I just wondered if there are any other female powerlifters on this forum?

I have to say I have nothing but respect for any female that takes that on, not because it is a personal goal of mine, but because I can't imagine the kind of dedication that must take.
As a beginner, I cannot IMAGINE doing that - my arms are so weak that 20 reps on the bicep machine set to the lowest setting leaves me shaking!

Yes, first meet was Apr 2010. But I don't log online if that's what you're looking for. Diet and macros are still important.

Hey all...I competed in PL for 10 yrs...retired in 2010 and have been bodybuilding on the National Level. I'm coming out of my retirement to do the SPF Women's Pro/Am in Cincinnati next month.
PL is by far the best sport that I could have ever been involved in. I always try to get women and young girls more interested in the sport.
Best lifts in a meet 165 class
RAW w/ knee wraps
Squat 480 (world record) Bench 285, DL 435
Plan to break my own record next month...

Hi Robyn, great to have you here and representing for strong women! Hoping one day to get on the WW list myself but don't foresee surpassing Rheta *sigh*. But as long as I do better against myself, it's all good
Good luck at your meet!Gym PRs:

macros
Birdiefu is correct...macros are still very important. Off season diet is just as crucial as precontest prep whether it is for BB or PL. Protein is the building block to muscle growth. Right now I'm am off season BB, but precontest PL..my protein macros are roughly 300+ a day! Food is fuel...can power lifters be more lax on diet? In my opinion, no...not if your goals are strength amd muscle gains.

What meet? And your goals are pretty close to your current #'s. You should surpass them.
...and you should be nervous! That's one reason I retired in 2010.. my last meet was APF National's in Chicago and that morning I was NOT nervous. I knew then my fire was fizzled out.
Its back though...I'm 3 weeks from my meet and that nervous energy is running rampant!

I train more PL style than BB style and for strength>looks alone. I'd love to enter a comp but I think it'll take me a few more years to really be able to compete with the more experienced women. Right now I'm stronger than your average female but not your average powerlifting female haha.

Yeah i hear ya on the nerve part.. I think I will be fine .... btw those numbers in my sig aren't meet numbers, everything will be lower considering pauses on bench, no straps on deadlift and lower depth on squat. I don't expect to win my first go around, im looking for experience right now, learning how its done , rules, etc..

Experience is the key...read the rules of the fed. you want to compete in, attend meets, watch videos from meets, and ask a ton of questions. One big mistake that a novice can make and easily fix is not blowing your commands. You can have the best lift of your life, but if you blew the head judge's commands it was for nothing. Prior to your meet...while your training, start having someone give you those comands...train like you will compete...then you will OWN the platform.

Yeah I really wanna get into it. I'm doing some powerlifting workouts and focus on major movements such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses.
Hit my highest deadlift today but it's only 220lbs (compared to some other AWESOME numbers here).
still happy with it. isn't it the best feeling to lift something you never thought you'd ever be able to?
100kg was a milestone for me today.Forza Juventus, unico grande amore, una grande passione.
