    Dead lift plateau

    afternoon all

my dead lifts have stopped at 185kg (408lbs)

my aim is to rep 250kgs (550lbs) x5

to further my lifts I've been front squatting, stiff legged, good mornings, farmers walk(grip strength) static holds(grip strength) and hamstring work

here 's what i normally do

    Warm up
    100x8 (double overhand)
    140x6(double overhand)
    160x5 (mixed grip)
    170x3 (double overhand with straps)
    180x2 (double overhand with straps)
    185x1-2 (double overhand with straps)

i've tried to push 187.5 with no luck, is there anything you would recommend to hit 185+

    appreciate all your replys!

    Cheers

Warm ups are too much to be optimal for your top working set.

I find when aiming to hit a new deadlift pr, I lower the warm up reps right down. Do maybe 100x8 then go up by 20kg/30kg and hit it for 2 maybe 3 reps then move on.

    Maybe you're exhausting yourself beforehand?

If this fails, I would just try to hit 185 for one more rep than the workout before hand. That's the next best thing to lifting a higher weight.
Brb just PR'd 3 plate deadlift now walking round gym thinking i'm the mac daddy.

Stop doing whatever and get on a tried and true program to increase your deadlift. One can be found in the "Read this before starting a thread" sticky, found here:

    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post269167081

Next, stop changing around your grip so much. If mixed grip works, use it. Chalk up and stick with it.

Next, Max effort DLs require efficient technique. Make sure to focus on your setup and get your form in check. Post a form critique thread if you would like help from more of the experienced deadlifters. There is also a "So you think you can deadlift" series on youtube that is not bad that shows how to figure out your setup.

lastly, be patient. 408x1 to 550x5 is not an overnight jump. It will most likely take years, and I mean years to reach that level. So, be patient, it's a marathon not a sprint.
