Feb 20th, just after 10 am, intense massive police seige on the maidan(town square) for 2 days, the maidaners counterattacked to chase police off the maidan...

That video is going to be one of the most key pieces of evidence in prosecuting the Berkut responsible. These men are the ones doing most of the killing of the several dozen maidaners that were killed (many of them killed on video) near the top of Instytutska street on the side of the road by the trees. There was also a sniper(s) on top of the Cabinet of Ministers building(285 meters distance) on Hrushevskoho street with a partial view to the same location all those guys were killed at and I dont know if any were shot from there, but I dont think so.

These Berkut are also the ones shooting from the high ground of October Palace when the maidaners first broke lines, and then they retreated to this location. Overall it looks like this group killed at least 50 people.

at the beginning of that first video at 0:05, you can see up the street from where the Berkut were shooting.
There were openings in two different barricades there(concrete one were the Berkut were, and improvised one near the maidaners) and the one close to the maidaners was wide enough that the Berkut had clean shots through it. There is a straight line of site from where the berkut were shooting to the maidaners at the trees. The maidaners were in a bad position there with easy shots at them. They may not have known exactly where it was coming from. Putting some sort of cover across the opening in the local barrier would have worked, and eventually thats what was done as you see towards the end of the 41 minute video. That and the tire fires eventually stopped the shooting.

using a google maps distance calculator, its 345 feet/105 meters from the concrete barrier opening where Berkut were shooting to the big tree everyody was being shot around.


The problem now with bringing justice is that the Berkut have fled, some to Russia and some to Belarus. Neither have a problem harboring murderers apparently. There will be international arrest warrants Im sure when its figured out who all was involved, but some may never be found.
