It's not a matter of "turning away", they're only supporting organizations who help males "of color".
President Obama is taking action to launch My Brother’s Keeper – a new initiative to help every boy and young man of color who is willing to do the hard work to get ahead.

I've seen people arguing that targeting black people when it comes to crime isn't a problem, if the person committing the crime is black then OF COURSE they will look for black people and that is not discriminatory practice.
However, targeting minority groups because they are the most impoverished groups to help then succeed via a private initiative is apparently HORRIBLE.
It's only ok to target minority groups when it comes to crime, at all other times we must not recognize that they are the most impoverished group in need of assistance?
Would this initiative turn away a white kid in need of help? That it specifically targets the recognize groups does NOT mean that it will exclude everyone else that is in the same situation, it's just a recognition that the groups in need of help are overwhelmingly the minority groups.

So, ignoring that there is an overwhelming disparity in actual crime when it comes to minority groups is ok but targeting the minority groups for help is not ok?
And by private initiative i mean that this is a government backed privately funded initiative just like thousands of initiatives before it.

What the hell are you talking about with crime rates?
That strawman was already smashed: This policy would be the equivalent of stating police will only arrest black criminals, because they're more likely to be committing crime. Hella-Derp.
Not sure why you're trying to defend this "government backed private initiative" just because such policies have been used in the past. Why can't you directly respond to the issues I've posted about?

So, recognizing that minority groups are overwhelmingly over represented in crime is ok but recognizing that the same groups are the ones in most need of help isn't?
I mean, it's no news that targeting a specific group helps in solving crime but it IS news that this group is also the one in most need of help?
Ehrmagerd they are helping the BLACKS specifically, recognizing that they are a group that is in most need of help... that's is just AWFUL?

in choosing the target population, why not vividly describe the group by their actions... instead of color or even social status (though have the financial cutoff for eligibility)....
a program for scofflaws and those at risk of becoming scofflaws through previous disciplinary action-particularly those involving violence or gross disrespect (meaning beyond words) of the school's authority. i'm no quant, but a simple algorithm could be made here to make it fair.. gpa, non-violent disciplinary action, violent disciplinary action, absences beyond the policy cutoff, percentage tardiness, etc. We're tryin to help the youth that needs it.. not just the blacks and hispanics like biased-Obama wants.
but yea, discriminatory propositions by the executive branch have kinda become a callingcard of the current administration. We need systems approach to government, no longer partisan patchwork

wait wait. you think it's okay for police to stop and frisk african americans?
You realize it violates the 4th amendment?
The Fourth Amendment (Amendment IV) to the United States Constitution is the part of the Bill of Rights that prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and requires any warrant to be judicially sanctioned and supported by probable cause.
Thank you nusty and company.

Liberals:
Why exactly can this not be a needs based? Any white/black/hispanic/asain kid who needs it will have access to it. Why exclude a child in need because the rest of his race on average is more fortunate? If you guys can't see this being racist then you're lost.**Arkansas Razorbacks**
