For those of you unaware, this case made news around this time last year.
This girl, Elisa Lam, was visiting LA on her own from Canada. The rumor has it she was visiting a guy she met online. But that's all speculation for now.
Lam's body was found on Feb. 19, 2013. She died in downtown Los Angeles on top of a hotel.
Her body was found in a water tank. Unmarked. Untouched. The water tank requires a 10 foot ladder which was not present when the body was found.
Wait, it gets creepier..
The murder happened at the (in)famous Cecil Hotel notoriously known for creepy chit happening prior to this,
and famous for this "ghost" photo
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?id=9409571
It gets creepier. Elevator cam footage leaked of her seen the night of her death.
Her strange behavior indicates someone was there talking to her. And a few spots where you can tell the video has been edited. Odd.
There was an outbreak of tuberculosis on skid row (down the street from the hotel) days after her body rotted in the water tank contaminating the water. Is it also ironic that there is an actual medical tuberculosis test titled LAM-ELISA?
Another weird connection? The entire story eerily similar to the 2005 movie Dark Water
Dahlia, the main protagonist of the movie moves into an apartment building with her young daughter Cecilia. (cecil, cecilia) After moving into her apartment, Dahlia notices dark water leaking from the ceiling in her bathroom. She ultimately discovers that a young girl named Natasha Rimsky drowned in the building’s rooftop water tank, which caused the water to turn black. The owner of the apartment building knew about this fact but refused to take action. Elisa Lam’s body was in the water tank for over two weeks, causing hotel guests to complain about foul tasting “black water”.
And this is how it all ends?
As the reporter states in the video, the rooftop area is protected by an alarm system and the water tank is difficult to reach. How did Elisa reach that area? Also, how did she close the water tank lid?
Her death was ruled accidental.
Surely, there must be more to this story. My mind is still full of phuck

The Elisa Lam Case is still one of the creepiest stories of this decade (storytime)

That's what I think happened, but if someone did then they got away with it. That's what makes the story so intriguing, because it seems like a lot of people are just willing to say she was on drugs and either accidentally drowned herself or committed suicide.
If she was murdered then the person who did it was very careful not to be picked up on video or leave any other evidence behind. That's one of the things that makes the elevator video so creepy, it looks like she's trying to hide from someone and at one point it looks like she might be talking to someone who's out of view of the camera.

Maybe, but there's a lot of unanswered questions or at least it was never publicly disclosed. I haven't looked into the case in about 6 months so I've forgotten most of the details, but why was she in LA? Did whoever she was meant to be meeting with come forward? Two weeks went by before she was discovered in a tank with no apparent means to enter it, was there a ladder there before and if so who moved it and why.
I don't remember if there was a toxicology report done or released either. Was she on drugs or did she have any mental disorders?

This.
This whole thing has been rebutted, then brought up again, then rebutted, then brought up again.
EDIT: There are articles online.
But basically she was mentally ill, was in a pretty unstable state (as seen through her blogs, or whatever) at the time, there was also a ladder leading up to the water tank that would not have set off the alarm, and some other things had been addressed.

Actually this was easily explained in the YT comments, can't remember what they said but it was pretty logical. Most likely murdered.

That's a pic of the same roof, if you zoom in it does look like someone could climb the roof access ladder from the other side of structure where the tanks are located, then from that roof top jump down onto the tanks. So if the tanks were unlocked then it wouldn't of been that difficult to do if your goal was to climb into a tank. I don't know how big of a drop it is from that roof to the top of the tanks though, but it looks like someone could do it without harming themselves. Not that you would want to in the dark.
I wonder what the lighting up there is like at night though.
