Saw that in person. I'm standing right in the background. That was a 4th attempt. Very impressive. Talked with him a bit, really nice humble guy. Came back from a bad pec tear.

Looks like a pretty legit lift and to do 500lbs raw as a 165 pounder is outstanding, have no words for it

He came back from a pec tear and benched 500lbs? And to top it off, at 165lbs?

That's what he told me, I believe he said it took him 26 months to get back. I also believe he tore it at one of the RUMS a few years back. I think that's what he told my training partner. I don't remember what he opened with, but he took 470 on second, 490 on third. Then asked for a 4th, they gave him I believe 8 minutes to rest, and he only rested about 4.

That's correct. He was really close before the tear. I competed with him at the 2010 Clash for Cash and he benched 465@170something. At Worldlifting 2010 he cut to 165 and benched 480, and the record was 485. He was SO close and then he tore his pec... and he just now (4 years later) got back to where he was and pushed past it. Major determination!

Yeah, hitting 480+ at RUM a couple weeks ago, even though he got reds for foot movement must've been huge for him.
