I'm a month into my cut and was doing well, but I've developed De Quervain's Tendonitis in my right thumb. Its pretty much an enlargement of the sheath that holds the tendons of the thumb (the painful area is along the tendon on the top of the thumb, right where the thumb meets the wrist). Afraid that working through it will make it chronic, so I want to let it heal via rest, ice, ibuprofen, etc.
My question is what to do in order to not erase my cutting progress. Just eat maintenance calories in a holding pattern until I can get back to gym? Keep eating in a deficit and just do cardio for the next few weeks?

You may want to consult a doctor for advice. None here (unless they are actual doctors) are qualified to give advice.

As far as actually treating the tendonitis, I will be seeing an orthopedist. Only he can determine whether just plain rest is sufficient, or whether it will take some cortisone or something else. My question isn't one about treatment though. I'm just curious how you change up your calorie intake during a "pause" in a cut, or whether you keep the same deficit and continue trying to lose weight without weight training.

If I am injured and need to heal, or something is preventing me from doing my regular workouts for any time greater then a week, I go back to maintenance calories.
