Guys someone totaled my car on the freeway and I have to go into work tomorrow. I work about 17 miles away and I cannot afford to lose this job.
I was thinking about biking there but I'm worried about how this will affect my workouts, even my upper body one's. Should I cut out leg workouts entirely?
Will biking this much lead to knee problems? I'm currently trying to cut to 150lbs but I'm also afraid that with this much biking I will lose lean mass. Is this excessive cardio?
I work 4 days a week so that'd be 140 miles a week. Wow.. advice?

You worry too much, man. Relax.
Given the increase in activity, just increase your calories. As far as weight training goes - experiment and see how you feel. And no, unless you have some pre-existing knee problem, I don't know why this would damage your knees.Started in April, 2013 at 212 lbs. Completely inactive at the time. Fat with zero muscle mass.

Do what you need to do to keep the job. If you're broke and have no money, that's not a great way to support your workouts and healthier eating. Biking 17 miles one way is not that far away. I've done 12 to 15 miles every other day and it takes less than 60 minutes. Plus you feel like a million bucks. Just make sure pack away and extra shirt and some deodorant because you may end up sweating a bit before arriving to work.
In regards to your knees, just make sure your legs are fully extended on the down pedal. You'll run into knee problems if you're not giving your legs enough pedal room and they're always bent.^^Former 300+lb Crew^^

Buy a girdle/ass pad and some gloves with padding as well...I biked to and from the beach last summer for work and logged a total of a little over 1000 miles. If you're biking long distance you may run into some issues other than your knees that you may have not thought of. For me, my ass/upper hammy kinda chaffed up and hurt like a b. But the body gets used to it. Also, gloves with padding is important. Without gloves, 2 fingers in my right hand went permanently numb for about a month. Thats due to to a pinched nerve issue. Name for it is dubbed "cyclist paulsy". Those are just 2 things that may happen.
Carry a portable pump and an intertube with the proper tools to fix a flat as well. Dont bother with a patch kit. Thats a temporary fix that kinda blows. Just get good at swapping intertubes.
Other than that, I hope you have a good bike.
Good luck

^ This. I am an avid cyclist and ride around 200 miles per week during the season (yes, I am very out of shape right now). Shorts with an ass pad (chamois) are a must if you will spend more than a few minutes in the saddle. Get fitted on your bike (if you haven't already) a proper fit should alleviate any potential for knee injury. Your leg should not be fully extended at the bottom of your pedal stroke, there should still be a slight bend in your knee.
Lifting and riding this much should be fine, just eat more.
