I just started using the my fitness pal and I have a question on the adding cardio calories. I am aware the app and the elliptical or treadmill are an approximate but to be safe, how many calories can I add to my fitness pal without over estimating.
Example:
30 min. Elliptical ( I'm 340lbs)
App=680cal.
Eliptical computer=520cal.
So can I safely add 400 cal. To my app for the day? I'm having a hard time loosing, so I'm trying to be as accurate as I can. Thank for reading everyone.
P. s. I'm doing a min. Of 1 hr. weights also so that's free cal. Burned already not counted.

Don't log excerise. Don't factor it in directly to how many calories you eat.
Figure out your caloric intake factoring in your activity - then just log food. Adjust based on results.
Also - don't eat back calories from excerise. Most people over estimate and over eat. If you've already factored activity level in when setting your calories up - you will be greatly over eating.

the BEST advice is don't add it
myfitnesspal uses those running calories and adds them to your total daily food, maybe giving you motivation to eat your excersize calories away
I reckon its best to ignore them for purposes of counting toward your daily calories, but if you must, always underestimate. that 400 calories i dont think is a net burn. more like you would have burned 200 stationary, but instead you burned 400 using the eliptical, for a 200 calorie net burn. This is also not factored with myfirnesspal. i COULD be wrong about this, but that's the way I think it should be counted. He learned no lessons
He acknowledged no mistakes

Any calories that MFP says you burned it false. If you want to be on the extreme safe side, take 1/4 of the calories it states and that's how many you burned. Sometimes, 1/4 is even too much so make your best guess or just stick with your normal amount of calories taken in per day without compensating.

Ok, I will just not count it at all to be safe. So, my fitness pal is calculated at 3020 to loose, today is average for the last 10 days and I'm at -1350 1000 cal. Of that from 1 hr cardio so it's -350 with just food. At this rate, I don't seem to be loosing. Should I give it a little more time or reduce cal. A little? I'm kinda hungry through the day with a good gym workout, then late day cardio, then a little abs at night. Less food would be harder to keep up with the pace I'm doing, but I'll try it if it has to be?
Also is the 3020 a deflect already or am I only -350 cal. ? I think when I set it up I picked an aggressive loss but, not sure? I tried a few apps. It fitness pal had a choice I went with aggressive, if not it's just what they picked to meet my goal. Thanks again for the help.

There are just too many factors where it won't give you accurate reading such as your metabolism, weight, height, gender, intensity, etc.
2/9/14 - 242.1
2/16/14 - 241.1 [lost 1lb]
2/23/14 - 239.4 [lost 1.5lb]
3/02/14 - 238.4 [lost 1lb]
3/09/14 - 235.4 [lost 3lb]
3/16/14 - 234 [lost 1.4lb]
