Actually yes. I like not being sore to the point of being crippled. My legs are on fire today....I had gotten used to not feeling like this. I also felt like a beast when lifting. I wonder if my decrease in gusto is a result of being off creatine. I have kinda felt blah while lifting lately.

5/1/14- Up to Guards through the weekend.
Perfect weather. Sunny, mid-60's and a bit of a breeze. Had to take the opportunity to go outside = ran again.
Fast shuffled 1.25 miles and then cooled down at the mini-gym. Sit squats, hip work, stretched calves.
5 rounds of:
10 Kbell Swings (60#)
5 Toes to Bar
Worked on linking T2B. Took a cue from E and looked up at the bar. Made a world of difference.
Took the lx ball to my calves. Then worked ankles, just forward of the achilles on the inside. There is a bunch of connective tissue that is all pissed from the extra stretching for Oly lifts, and now running.Journal- One of the Ogres

Crushing my calves is definitely helping with my running. I was watching a Starett video series "Ready to Run". Covers the basics of what I need to do in order to not killing my legs with running.
JetMass is definitely helping with recovery.
Got all dressed up and went to a Chief's induction ceremony tonight. Couple good friends getting promoted to the highest enlisted rank. Good company, good food and good conversation. No pics that I know of!Journal- One of the Ogres

Yep! No pics dressed to the 9's.
Long weekend at Guards. Good stuff happening, but it is testing my abilities. I even had one guy stop me and ask me how I was doing? That's not good as I am decent at keeping the game face on. Only a couple more months to get some processes and more people trained and I should be able to focus more on the people than the moving pieces.
5/6/2104- Gym = Sanctuary
Warm- ext rotations, OHP w/ bar, wrist stretches
BB OHP- strict
95x10x2
135x5
165x1x10 sets

DB Rear Delt Raise- elbows straight (easy to cheat by bending them)
25x15x3
Band Pull Aparts-
3 sets 10
Rear delts on fiya at this point
Planks-
Lx ball on the feet and calves-have not used on feet in months = lots of pain face going on. Always amazes me how quickly the body gets all messed up.
Down to my last couple scoops of JetMass. It's been a good run!Journal- One of the Ogres

5/6/14- CFit
Warm- pushups, pullups (stupid wrist...still cannot do pullups), rolled the calves
Squats-
135x5x2 paused
225x5
295x20
The last 3 reps were a special sort of ugly. Core was not stable on the way up= rocked onto my toes. Seeing stars in the periphery = the closest I have been to passing out in a long time!
Skill- Handstands
Started with headstands and got better at moving feet up and down
Then kipped up to a handstand
WOD- skipped to begin stretching for the Oly session.
Ankles, hips, shoulders, wrists
Oly-
Low Hang Snatch Pulls
135x3x5
Snatch Balance
95x3x5
Well, I can get about 1/2 way down fairly quickly. Just need to keep grinding away at this flexibility so I can progress further.
R Knee was pissy from the 20 repper, so headed home to ice and eat.Journal- One of the Ogres

Had the same issue over 10 years ago with the other wrist and they made me wrap the wrist in an air cast type deal for several weeks. Who's got time for that?
I've got a Spartan race to F up this wrist even more (monkey bars and 8 ft wall F U), then sod to remove, a fence to put in, a couple yards of wood chips to put down, gravel to spread, and a Graduation Party to put on in the next month.
Am I stubborn? I've often wondered.Journal- One of the Ogres

Yes. A bear does and apparently I am. Who knew???
Gimme another month and I may go in and get a freaking soft hand cast and be "that guy" for a month...endless questions and endless entertaining answers. Well, Genevieve and I were arm wrestling and ...
She is doing the Elite Race in the early AM...around 8....and then doing the main race with our team around 10 = being my spartan buddy and cheerleader as I am in worse overall shape going in this year with wrist, knee, and ankle stuff going on. I forsee a lot more walking this year and more burpees if the wrist acts up. Pics will be had!Journal- One of the Ogres

I came through this Spartan Race in way better shape than last year. It was a Founder's Race so he set it up for the terrain to be more of the obstacle. The result was way more steep hiking and then steep descents, lots of mud, water crossings, etc. I am much better at hiking as we do that in the summer and fall for hunting.
I also am much less sore as I worked in some Emergen C before and during the race, some Pedia-lite and some Jetmass into my post race recovery drink. Last year I was hard-cramped 2/3 the way through the race and was having deep muscle cramps in the adductors and calves for a full day. This time the calves started getting b!tchy on the last hill and I never cramped after that.

5/15- CFit
Warm- high knees, butt kickers, box jumps, hip and ankle mobility
Skill- ME Squat (we only do this a couple times a year)
135x5 pause squats
175x5 pause
225x3
Called it there is the L side HF is still banged up from the race. I spotted a couple of the fellas. One 40 lb PR and another managed a 20 lb. I took a bar off a back as one guy went down. He came out of the hole and then rocked forward through his sticking spot and then bam, decided to jump out from under. My hands were on his chest at the time so I caught it in the elbow pits and then it scraped my thighs as I was getting out of the way. A little drama for the evening. Was only 330 so no real harm. We had a little visit afterwords that if you feel hands on your chest you do not dump.
WOD- Tabata
Mountain Climbers
Overhead Press (65#)
Air Squats
Some pretty serious shoulder pump and no endurance after hitting them yesterday!
15 ea with the climbers
Planned for 8-10 with OHP. Nope. Was at 5's by the 4th set. Was ugly. 65# ownage
15 ea with squats
I've been working on picking a number and trying to stick to it through the whole tabata. Or making a strategic plan to go 15's, 13's, 10's, just so I don't completely bonk and end with 5's. Certain movements, even with a strategy as described, I just seem to hit a wall at a certain number of reps: pushups, toes to bar, pullups, now OHP is added to list
Some studette action. Not exactly sure how she finished the Elite race with no mud on her! She didn't finish the race with me looking so spiffy!
