    Ran 2 Miles In 20 Minutes On Treadmill, New PR For Me!

    When I was younger I could run a six minute mile like it was nothing, but since being over 200 pounds, I wasn't really able to run. Last week, I ran 1 mile in ten minutes a couple of different times on a treadmill, so today I tried to double that by running for 20 minutes straight. I ended up running 2.10 miles in 20 minutes. I told the gym staff and they started clapping like I was a retard who had done something all by himself for the first time, so I decided to tell you guys about it.

    I'm going to try running 2 miles in 20 minutes every day from now on.

    I was thinking of maintaining 2 miles in 20 minutes every day for a week, then moving up in 2 and a half minute increments until I'm doing 3 miles in 30 minutes.

    Awesome man. I'm an ex-smoker and not too long ago I was really excited to get my 1 mile time down to 7:30. Now I'm trying to get 1.5 consistently below 12:00 (which would be a "Good" ranking for the Cooper 1.5 mi test). We're all gonna make it brahs.

    The regular Cooper test is to run as far as you can in 12 minutes, but there is an alternate version that is a timed 1.5 mile run. Apparently those rankings are not from Cooper himself, but they're useful enough.

    You can use either version to estimate V02max, for instance, running 1.5 miles in under 11 minutes suggests "above average" VO2max.

    Grats on the PR, man. Well done. Sounds like many more to come

    About a year and a half ago when I was running frequently I managed to break many of my own PR's on distance but very few on speed. Before injury temporarily took me out of the game I was running 5-8 miles but averaging 11 min miles. I could get 8-9 min averages on short runs but I never actively worked towards that goal like you are now. I think I'll go that route this time around and probably be better off for it.

    Thanks brah! My diet is currently under control, I'm eating below my TDEE, I used Scooby's calculator to determine my daily caloric target, and I am somewhere in the 2,400 calories a day range, but I stayed well below that yesterday. I ate below 2,000 calories yesterday.

    Great job! I was in the same boat and now running everday 5 miles. 8-9 minute mile.

    If you are actually able to cut at 2400, then you shouldn't dip below it just because you're able to on a particular day. But I suspect you should be a little lower than that, like 2200 maybe. In any case just be consistent.
