Mousasi just seems to always not give a chit in there. Most of the time he catches the other guy with something early and puts them away, but when he doesn't he fights like he just woke up and with no sense of urgency. It's very strange, he's got the tools to make some noise but you can't just let fights slip away from you against top opponents.

Machida vs Mousasi went just like I expected... Machida landed some decent shots, Mousasi looked like he doesn't care and is overrated.
169 sucked, tonight sucked, and next week will suck lol. The UFC needs to get their sh*t together. All these new Brazilian fighters coming up are f*ckin boring. I watch some of these fighters and I find myself thinking "what the f*ck am I watching?"
At least the cards will pick up in March with Lawler vs Hendricks.Anti-*******ry Crew

Machida fought well tonight; that early head kick would have taken out a fighter with a lesser chin (looked very similar to the kick that KO Munoz.) Good effort from Mousasi as well. His ground game from the bottom looked good (nice use of butterfly.) On a side note, it was good to see Silva come back with a solid TKO.

boring? Watching two top level contenders is boring? Great technical battle. Lyoto was impressive as always. Great footwork, great groundwork, almost perfect timing, and Mousasi just got outclassed on those aspects. For someone "anti-*******ry" you sure did provide a lot of it in this post*Pureblood Crew*

I'm surprised so many people here thought that fight was boring. 3 headkicks (possibly more, just watched it), not to mention Mousasi taking the kick and trying to get a take down off of it, a spinning back kick, an attempted capoeira kick, some hard knees, that flying punch at the end which could have very well ended in a KO for either guy... These aren't things that happen in most fights. I thought it was a bit one sided with Machida picking Mousasi apart but there was that feeling that it could've ended at any time from both fighters. Just my opinion brahs

The problem of rushing into machida (and risking getting ryan bader'd) + moussasi's slow plodding style meant this was always going to be a problem.
I need to rewatch shogun v machida to see how he was so effective in the stand up. has machida patched holes in his game? was hoping moussasi could find the same success.
even in defeat i think moussasi deserves more praise than he's getting, showed pretty good stand up, ground game, iron chin, ring rust wasn't a problem and he seems to have recovered from the ACL surgery.
throw bisping at him at let him work his way up to a contenders match.Last edited by uchoom; 02-16-2014 at 12:02 AM.

Yeah, he "shutdown" 2 mediocre fighters. It's not like he destroyed them though. If he was as good as everyone said he was, he'd have finished them, or atleast destroyed them like Reem destroyed Mir in a fight where he should've got the KO.
The problem with you trying to defend Mousasi is that you don't every say what it actually is that he's good at. All i keep hearing is you saying is "he's skilled" this and that...everyone's skilled...Moos just isn't very well skilled is all. He's lucky to be a gatekeeper.
