I do think that I would like to lose a bit more fat before I continued trying to put on weight, but I also think that if I lose any more weight I'll just be skinny and too small.
I don't know what my body fat % is, my scale says 13%, my caliper says something around that, maybe someone can help out with an estimate?

Basically I'm just looking for some advice on which road would be more appropriate: lose more weight then slow lean bulk, or start lean bulk now and then cut later.

Really all you needed to post was 6'1 179. Bulk bro! You are plenty lean and have room to put on loads of quality mass!

Start at 350 calories over maintenance, track for 4 weeks, adjust accordingly.
1g protein per lb
