Interesting thread.
Been doing IF for four months myself, and not being rigid about where my carbs come from every single day, and lost over 20lbs, and can now see abs that I haven't seen in over 20 years, just enjoyed some dark chocolate digestives with a full fat coffee, YUM, I'll be good tomorrow though, I'll have some porridge.
I know its all about the total cals per week for loosing weight, but I have to enjoy it too, being rigid every day is dull, so it be interesting to see what the different foods does to your health.
Looking forward to your findings.

My approach calorically is as follows:
First four weeks:
week one: 3000 calories for all 7 days
week two: 3000 calories for 6 days/ one 20 hour fast and 2000 calories
week three: same as week two
week four: 3000 calories for 5 days/ two 20 hour fasts at 2000 calories
Second four weeks:
week one: 2800 calories for all 7 days
week two: 2800 calories for 6 days/ one 20 hour fast and 2000 calories
week three: 2800 calories for 5 days/ two 20 hour fasts at 2000 calories
week four: same as above
third four weeks:
week one: 2600 calories for all 7 days
week two: 2600 calories for 6 days/ one 20 hour fast and 2000 calories
week three: 2600 calories for 5 days/ two 20 hour fasts at 2000 calories
week four: same as above
So from the protocol above the average weekly:
3000 calories
2857 calories
2857 calories
2714 calories
2800 calories
2685 calories
2571 calories
2571 calories
2600 calories
2514 calories
2428 calories

Will the blood work be just the standard stuff like Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides?
Genotype information could be interesting, too. A lot of people make the comment that "it's genetics". Just saying that is one thing; understanding it is another. For example, I recently learned that, how our body clears cholesterol has some dependency on the genotype associated with apolipoprotein E. Certain genotype variations here can genetically predispose one to not clearing cholesterol as well as the next guy. So diet matters for overall health, deficit or no deficit (which I know you're not debating, TW).
I'd also be curious to see APO B:APO-1 ratio, before and after. As I understand it (and I am still learning)...even if cholesterol and other lipid numbers are in line, this ratio can show a change that moves an individual from the 'optimal' zone into a 'risk' zone.
FYI - I found that these tests are available but standard internal med practitioners don't mention/offer them as 'normal care'. My doc actually offered them up and now that I've done them it will be impossible to go back to 'normal' blood tests because the level of detail in normal tests if significantly inferior.
That said...whatever tests you run, I am very interested in the outcome. Thanks for sharing this experiment.Last edited by iEatBeef; 02-20-2014 at 06:40 PM.

Im in on this thread. Not saying i personally could or would do it, but very interesting to say the least. Once an overweight 30%BF myself, this would put me right back where i was. Its nice to see someone else try it.

i don't believe in ****totyping. And very few would have the same metabolism they had in their 20's, they have in their 40's. I thought that I was able to finally add more lean mass only because my metabolism slowed down in my 30's. At the same time though with this diet, I'm leaning out at higher caloric intake than I would in the past.

hey T
subbing and looking forward to results
i guess the only thing i have to contribute is a question at this point:
i'm guessing you pull the nutrition facts from the official websites but there's always a possibility that it may be 10% off right? i mean 100 of 1000 isn't a whole lot i suppose but just wondering what you think of pulling nut facts off the web like i'm assuming what you're doing...100% ä¸åœ‹äºº

I just stumbled onto this thread. It's an interesting thing you're doing. I've often wondered about this very idea myself. I think the answer is quite obvious though. If one maintains the macronutrient and energy requirements, either for cutting, maintaining, or bulking, there is no reason why any sort of diet wouldn't work. But you mention the blood work, and that's one that I am skeptical about. It brings to mind the movie Supersize in which the film-maker eats nothing but McDonalds' for a period of a month (or something like that). In the end he finds that he has acquire all these symptoms of metabolic syndrome.
I'm curious to see what your results are in April.

The problem and big difference there and here is that he wasn't in a deficit. He gained weight in the worse way possible. Being in a deficit makes the difference. Google the Twinkie diet from the Professor of Nutrition from Kansas State University. Or more recently, the math teacher that lost 37 lbs eating only from the McDonalds' menu. The health markers for both interms of HDL, LDL, triglycerides improved.
