They still throw up a story about Jason Collins every once in awhile.
I voted for gay marriage in MD, and definitely not homophobic. But just like Tim Tebow, being passionate about something to the media whether your religion or sexuality is probably going to hurt you and not because of your sexuality.

Well, that's because it is the NFL. Honestly, if it was any other sport, it would get attention, but not this much and for not as long as it will. The NFL is constantly talked about, ever noticed how NFL shows on ESPN are on all year around? Until the combine, there won't be much to talk about, so they need something.

lol
yea i'm sure he didn't do it for his community of anything. I mean in no way will his media presence shine light on the issue of gay rights, not one bit. It must really rustle your jim jams that the best defensive player in the best conference is homosexual.
if i can make an analogy, it's the same as nfl players admitting they are diabetic or have some other condition. Does it make them one of the spokesman for the issue? Yes of course, but more importantly it gives others hope seeing someone like themselves succeed.-USC-Bakers-Raiders-

Michael Sam Sr. told The New York Times that he received the news last Tuesday when his son wrote in a text: "Dad, I'm gay."
Sam's father took the news hard. He said he was eating at a Denny's restaurant but had to leave after receiving the text.
"I couldn't eat no more, so I went to Applebee's to have drinks," Sam Sr. told the newspaper. "I don't want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment."
Sam Sr., who described himself as "old-school," told the newspaper the idea of a gay player in the NFL bothers him, even when that person could be his own son.
He told the newspaper that late Hall of Famer Deacon Jones, the leader of the Rams' Fearsome Foursome who is credited with terming the word sack, "is turning over in his grave."
He told the newspaper, however, that he loves his son and hopes he makes it into the NFL.
"As a black man, we have so many hurdles to cross. This is just one he has to cross," Sam Sr. told The Times.

Probably a reason why he decided to text him the news. A lot of people in this country still feel like that. I don't know whether or not to say the reaction is wrong. The news didn't bother me at all. I wonder how many drinks the father had over his one son going to jail. I bet the answer to that is zero.
