I read one method where they cut a log in 2 then hollow it out. Put the criminal inside so only his arms and head stick out then put him in a swamp so he just lays there floating. Everyday they would feed him milk and honey to start ****ting himself. Bugs would get inside and lay eggs with the maggots slowly eating him and he cant move....

Most of these are pretty quick. Painful, but quick.

I remember reading a story in voice of the mayrtrs about a guy (who was one of many) who was locked in a pitch black, individual cell with concrete floors in the frigid north whose only human contact was when once a day a guard would bring him enough rice or bread (rolled in dirt) just to keep him alive (absolute brink of starvation) and to beat him. This went on for a few years.

BRB Too cold to lay down so you have to stand all day. Can't even lean against walls to sleep.
BRB Absolute darkness and quiet so your mind would go crazy.
BRB Starving to death.
BRB Beaten every day.

Amazingly the guy guy from the story didn't die, but many in his position did.
Even more amazingly the guy never lost his faith and went on to continue being a minister.

Scaphism, also known as the boats,[1] was supposedly an ancient Persian method of execution designed to inflict torturous death that was described by the Persians' archenemies, the Greeks. The name comes from the Greek σκάφη, skáphe, meaning "anything scooped (or hollowed) out".

The intended victim was stripped naked and then firmly fastened within the interior space of two narrow rowing boats (or hollowed-out tree trunks) joined together one on top of the other with the head, hands and feet protruding. The condemned was forced to ingest milk and honey to the point of developing a severe bowel movement and diarrhea, and more honey would be rubbed on his exposed appendages to attract insects. He would then be left to float on a stagnant pond or be exposed to the sun. The defenseless individual's feces accumulated within the container, attracting more insects which would eat and breed within his exposed flesh, which—pursuant to interruption of the blood supply by burrowing insects—became increasingly gangrenous. I think what would be one of the worst is more mental torture than physical. I read they would put a guy into a very small box where he would be all in crunched position and keep hims in that position for months, just feeding him. I can't imagine worse way to die tbh.

nah not really when the body sustains damage like that you generally go into shock and not feel much or simply pass out.

I'd say anything dealing with prolonging death (suffocation/crushing/burning) are easily the worst
