Fatloss plateau cyclical ketogenic intermitent fasting

6' 180 pounds low muscle trying to get to 170ish (where I get a defined jaw). I do IF monday-friday with a 6 hour window except mct oil in coffee during fasting window. I dont IF on the weekend and i eat carbs 1-1.5 days of the weekend. I do 20 min of hiit 4 times a week on eliptical or bike.

What should I do now? Not trying to kill my mental state by starving/over excersing.

What do you want to do? Lose weight? Eat at a deficit. How is that accomplished? Eat fewer calories than you burn. Sounds like you dislike that answer but, hey, that's the answer. Doesn't matter if you like it or not. Take it up with mother nature.

If it has come back, it's because you stopped counting. It doesn't really get more permanent than eating less than you expend.

Learning how to count calories and learning as much as you can about nutrition is permanent method.
    Cycling keto is not permanent.

You most likely gained the weight back because you went back to your old way. Not because you were counting calories.

The reason I gain it back is because as soon as I stop cutting and my carbs go up, even if they are just brown rice, oatmeal, and yams mostly, I dont get full until I have eaten too much and I am hungry more often. How is calorie counting sustainable when it forces you to go hungry all the time? That and the mental realestate it takes up regardless whether u keep the tally in your head or your phone are my problems with it. Do you have workarounds?

When your carbs go up your calories go up. Carbs don't make you fat. Over eating does. Don't use carbs as an excuse.

Calorie counting does not force you to go hungry. No matter how you look at it, in order to lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit.

It seems like you believe you can be in a surplus but if you carb cycle you still lose weight. Either that or you are just really confused.

Eat more foods that are satiating, high in protein and fat, also I would drop the Keto, you are obviously mistaking it for a cutting diet.

Carbs do make you fat. If all you eat is fat, you can eat way over maintenance and gain nothing. No carbs. No glucose. No insulin. No fat storage. This is discussed with referenced studies in Lyle Mcdonald's "The Ketogenic Diet." And no im likely not in a surplus since ketosis prevents me from being hungry enough to eat over maintenance. If I do eat a surplus now and then, it is not causing me to gain anything.

Calories in vs. calories out doesn't apply to you, because neither does Physics.

Oh, you mean the book where he says "As with any diet, fat loss on a ketogenic diet will still require the creation of a caloric deficit."

Its simple, more calories than your body burns will make you gain fat, end of story, they are not going to just magically pass through you. Singling out carbs as a macro that will make you fat is just plain crazy.
