I dont think the pre-exhaust caused the biceps tear. The point of the method was to fatigue his lats so that on pulling movements he could fully utilise his lats without his smaller, weaker biceps failing first. Theres no reason to think this placed any more stress on the biceps than if he'd rowed first. You also have to assume that with his precise and scientific approach to training he would have stopped using the pre-exhaust if he did feel his biceps taking more stress.
Anyway thats all besides the point. He was virtually partial curling over 180kilos, pre-exhuast or not, you're asking for it.

well just..no..
your biceps are the weak link anyway. If your lats were completely fresh, you still can't row more than the biceps can handle. Pre exhausting them should mean less weight on the compound, and less risk.
that said, he admitted most of his injuries, including this one, were by using off season weights when he was into his contest diet, and that is the one thing he would do differently if he were to do it all again

If anyone is interested, here's a pretty good interview with Dorian taking all about his tears

Same. And at almost 32, after years of heavy lifting, I have all this weird rubbing and strange clicking sounds in almost all my joints. I feel like my ligaments/tendons are attached by a thread and at risk of tearing at any given moment. Yet, I can't bring myself psychologically to not go all out in the gym.
Nothing

let me tell you, from one who has been through these wars for many years: your biggest enemy is NOT a pathological tear ( never to be confused with micro-tearing ), but rather, the bane of our existence in the long run is INFLAMMATION.
various forms of tendonitis, are what eventually lead to layoffs....and they are basically inevitable....
serious muscle tearing is actually rare, and, for people who are "natural", even rarer......
but those damn "ITIS" thingies: they are persistent...and worse: they force you into bad habits and UNBALANCED movements as you try to compensate....
and how to prevent them? well: easier said than done, because they are all basically REPETITIVE STRESS events that are cumulative: and our routines are just asking for them!
the body has a mind of it's own: let me say this: no matter HOW PERFECT your form is, at any given moment in time, any one of your tendons/attachments/joints, etc, can simply say: I'VE HAD IT, I think I'll go ballistic....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.

Great picture and I beleive doing rows underhanded , at least I feel them for myself, hit the lower lats a little more than underhand. Dorian was Mr. O five times for a reason!
