I've been into lifting since I was about 15 years old, but could never get the results I was looking for. Never really stuck to a proper diet or strict, focused training routine. My last two years of university really did a number to my body, having gained roughly 70-80lbs of pure fat from age 20-22. I was partying and drinking a lot, eating like crap and I had quit lifting or exercising entirely. I felt like hell, and looked worse. I was very unhappy with my life and was on the fast track to possible depression and surely other health concerns.
It was around May 2013 (~9 months ago) that I looked in the mirror, hated what I saw and decided to get back on track. Here's my official "before" picture.

So I cleaned up my diet somewhat, got my ass back in the gym and started doing work! I was noticing some results about a month in.. Still not to the extent I would have liked, probably because I was still drinking on weekends and cheating more then I would have liked. Here's the pictures 1 month later.. Early June-ish. (~8 months ago)
At this point, even though the results weren't spectacular, I was ecstatic that I was starting to see some results. Being a gym rat for many years, it had always been a dream of mine to step on stage and compete in a bodybuilding competition... So I decided to get myself a coach and train to compete... This is what completely changed my life... I stuck to my diet and listened to my coach to a tee and the changes I was seeing were incredible. Here's my pictures from early November 2013 (~3 months ago).

At this point, I was so addicted to the gains and changes. My motivation was 15/10; I dedicated myself 100%. Things were changing faster than I would ever have imagined. The local "novice" bodybuilding show takes place on March 29/14 and I set my sights on it.
Currently, as of tomorrow, that is 8 weeks away. Took some progress pictures this morning.. Here's my "8 weeks +1 day out" photos.
This sport has truly changed my life. I feel like a better person in every single aspect of my life. My confidence is through the roof and I have a great outlook on life. My friends and family all tell me how i've changed so much for the better. Now, I don't post these results to gloat or brag. I post this entirely to motivate others to make the change that i've made. ANYTHING is possible if you want it badly enough. I wanted it badly enough and I got it. Don't procrastinate. Get off the couch and do it NOW! Greatness awaits us all. Go get it.

What...? This is remarkable. Like I believe that the body can change like that in that amount of time, but I always thought it was a more "in theory" kind of thing. Simply because I never thought anyone who looked like your "before" could develop the correct mindset and lifestyle in such a short amount of time to become a bodybuilder. That is absolutely astounding. You are a strong person my friend.

TheRoadToStage...
I just joined today to get some help, tips, and motivation to stay in the gym. My body is beaten and broken down from the Marine Corps and I just can't get motivated to stick to fitness. I have a desire for it, but no drive. Your transformation is incredible.
I need to turn my **** around, and this thread is giving me a good jump start to that. Thank you for posting your results, it's definitely motivating!
