Hello girls and all the fitness addicts! I´m quite new to this forum and I´m not a native speaker, so please, excuse my English...
I'm 19 years old and I've been excercising since 2012. I've gained good amount of muscles (people are asking me, if I am gonna compete; I think that bodyfitness category is the most similar to my body right now, except that I'm in "bulk" ) and i'm really keen on excercising, but I worry about my health...since I have stopped to take birthcontrol in August 2013 (I had taken these pills for 2,5 yrs) I haven't had my period...Except that, I have got bad hair (they are greased just the second day after washing, they are damaged and I can't stop the splitting of its ends in spite of cutting them...), bad skin (lots of acne...) and some hairs above my lip and on my neck (it's nothing terrible but I can see it...) But the period is the thing that worries me the most...Indeed, I have never been on roids or something. On the other hand, I'm eating lots of protein (when in hurry, i use whey too) and nuts, avocados, cheese and I'm wondering, if the problem isn't in my diet...this is the example of the typical foods i eat:
Breakfest: oats (60 grams) + semi-skimmed milk (300 mililitres) + 1 piece of fruit (banana, pear...) + nuts
Snack: cottage cheese (200 grams - 30 grams of protein) + 2 pieces of veggies (+ sometimes 80 grams of wholegrain bread)
Lunch: rice/pasta/couscous etc. (60 grams before cooking) + chicken breast/lean pork/lean beef (150-170 grams) + veggies
Dinner: 80 grams of wholegrain bread or knackebrot + 1/2 avocado + 2 eggs + some ham or cheese (50 grams) + veggies
Dinner II: non-fat quark (125 grams) + nuts
I'd be really glad, if you could share some knowledge (if you had had similar problem or just some idea,I haven't found much relevant information on this problem), Thanks in advance for your time and reading this, I appreciate it!

If you haven't had your hormone levels checked, there is no way to know if your test levels are high. Greasy hair/split ends is not an indication of test levels. Protein intake does not affect hormone levels.
Your best bet is to go to the doctor and have them run bloodwork on hormone levels/thyroid/etc."Start where you are. It's never too late to change your life."

it wouldnt be your diet or wt training. If you are seriously concerned, check with your dr.

I think that acne related to diet.. Especially if you took birthcontrol pill.. You should do some hormonal tests, my problem with the acne and hair is the hormon D4 Androstenedione and I keep it undercontrol with my diet.. you have to avoid all food with an high glicemic level, especially pasta (you can eat kamut or spelt pasta), rice (you can eat basmati or brown rice), sugar and sweets, fried food, red meat (you have to prefer turkey or chicken breast and fish.. Omega are very good to treat acne). Other foods to avoid are milk and cheese (I have problem with greek yogurt too ), coffee, alchool and black tea.
Now I'm fine with this problem, my skin is clean and my hair aren't greased anymore! Good luck

Hello, medical nerd here. That sounds like classic Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. My advice is go back to your OB and have them put you back on birth control. Besides preventing pregnancies it is used as therapy to enable those who can't have periods on their own to have them again. It also helps with acne. Hair issues might be due to poor diet, and body hair is definitely a PCOS symptom. Sorry to bump guys, but I suffer from PCOS too and I noticed these are the same symptoms I suffered from years ago when I was first diagnosed. Good luck!
~~~Never, never, never give up.~~~
