    Shins Bleeding While Deadlifting

    Does this happen to anyone else when they deadlift? Is it a result of poor form? And most importantly, is the blood loss affecting my gains?

    my shins bleed basically every time i deadlift. i'd rather make sure the bar is close to me and have my shins bleed than risk having it out in front of me.

    Think about this logically: if the bar is scraping your shins, that means it's as close to your body (and its center of gravity) as possible, and the closer the bar is to your center of gravity the easier it is to pull. It's uncomfortable, but once you are deadlifting heavy, a one inch difference in the bar position is huge and certainly noticeable.

    Agreed. Keeping the bar close to your body allows for better leverages and less lower back stress.

    Don't care what anyone says. If your shins aren't bleeding, you're doing it wrong. Just disinfect bar prior to deads.

    I look like a bloodbath after heavy deadlift day. Blood on hands, shins, and probably eyes as well.

    I do a lot of deadlifts and never have problems with it hitting my shins. This includes different forms of deadlift. Anything from straight leg to sumo to conventional.

    it's not poor form at all, if anything it's better, wear sweat pants on days you deadlift and this won't happen anymore

    You lose that there pump. Decrease in blood. Nutrients escaping body. You need to consume blood so your macros are still on point.
