It's because in America their politics are very black and white, you're either a liberal hippy or a conservative gun toting redneck, and they hate each other. By stating any opinion which doesn't support gun ownership, you instantly become everything they hate.
You are the reason they have to pay tax. You are lazy and umemployed. You smoke weed and hate America. You are an Obama voter.

I think if I had a gun hanging on my wall I would feel the freedom Americans keep banging on about.

It's all fun and games to the UK crowd about Americas endless guns and all but let's be realistic. No other country would bother to invade the UK, I don't say this as an insult but it doesn't stand as an equal in world power, it doesn't play a vital role in the worlds economy like the US, and it's not sizable enough to provide immense resources.
Here's the cold hard truth though. If another country did decide to invade the UK the citizens have no way of defending, and you have to rely on what few guns you do have to save the day and realistically you'd be phoning the US offering promise of endless cock sucking if we send over the the military to protect your "safe" country. In the US on the other hand it's debatable if the military would even be put into action because the population as a whole would provide the worlds worst urban terrorist gauntlet for invading forces to traverse through. Nobody is stupid enough because they know that we hold the firepower card and will trump them in their sh!tty hand from the beginning.Military Crew

Its just different cultures, even "criminal" culture.
The only criminals who own a gun here are high level drug dealers who try to defend themselves from getting robbed by other dealers . I have never seen or heard of a normal street thug/robber carrying a gun .
Meanwhile in america every youth in a gang and every wannabe tough wigger has a gun in his waistband

It's because everyone in the uk is taught it's wrong to own a gun and to kill somebody where as in America you get taught you need a gun and killing people is fine.
Just two completely different views. Personally I prefer the uks view. I know that there is almost no chance I'll ever get shot in the uk. When I go on holiday to America though I always feel on edge I wouldn't want to get in trouble due to the fact I know Americans will shoot first ask questions later.
Don't get me wrong though I wanna move to America in the future because it's an amazing country, I just don't agree people should be freely allowed to own guns. But it's too late to change anything to do with guns now so theirs nothing you can do about it.

There's a lot of assumptions in here about what is supposedly taught in the US, from us not knowing countries to us being 'taught' that killing is alright, every youth having a gun, down to endless elementary schools being shot up. I don't know if it's your own media that you obtain these "facts" or if you just hype the crap up yourselves but you really have no idea of what you speak of.
Furthermore America isn't laced with guns on every person on every street with nothing but hostile cities and neighborhoods, I leave my door wide open at times when the weather is nice out and I don't fear people walking in and shooting/stabbing/beating me. Violence follows trends just like in all countries, it's more predominant in low income neighborhoods, places that lack education, and have great availability of alcohol and other substances that can lead to promoting violence. I've noticed a lot of younger people from the UK claim they feel safe and nothing has ever happened but there are endless variables missing here. The first one is age, the older you are the more EXPERIENCE you get, not to mention most miscers are a bunch of forever alone types that don't go out and do anything. Not a big shocker but if you don't go out you sure as hell don't see anything going on, hell if I stayed in my home for my whole life I'd be oblivious to the things going on in this world also, however I choose to get out and have witnessed what can and does happen on this planet. Quit being so close minded and filled with a pseudo pride for a country that you've hardly experienced on your own by functioning like a human being that participates in society.Military Crew

Troll detected. brb 6th largest economy in the world, brb nuclear deterrent. also believe it or not the armed forces are armed, and can defend the UK if required
Futhermore if someone attacks the UK then effectively they declared war on the whole of NATO (ie. UK, most of Europe as well as US and Canada)
