Cool Strength standards in first world society.. what percentages would you guess?

Was looking at strength standards out of interest on this site:

    http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLi...Standards.html

I can see that there are some clear parameters of untrained, novice, intermidate, advanced and elite lifters.

I am curious as to what you guys think what percent of males in first world societys fall into each bracket?

    For example do you think:

    80% of men are untrained
    12% of men are novices
    6% of men are intermediate
    1.5% of men are advanced
    0.5%% of men are Elite

Pure speculation, post what numbers you would guess at

According to that, I am elite in everything except power snatch just because I have never done it before. That chart is wildly inaccurate.

because they were calculated by reducing the numbers from the single ply standards. I've mentioned it to Steve. I'll do so again when I see him in February.

I don't think anyone really paid attention to the single lift squat numbers because its not offered (generally) in the USPA.

They must have reduced it by quite a bit. No way would i call 1633 elite for a SHW

not sure from where you got 1633 as elite

I feel like the deadlift numbers are a little low overall. No way would I consider myself an "international elite" puller which the chart says I am, I've always considered my deadlift fairly ****ty.

If you read the definiton of elite on the erxr thing it says : "An athlete competing in strength sports. Keep in mind, the standards shown in the tables do not represent the highest level of strength performance possible."

He's just using elite in a way in relation to the whole population, not the strength training world.

Was looking at strength standards out of interest on this site:

I can see that there are some clear parameters of untrained, novice, intermidate, advanced and elite lifters.

I am curious as to what you guys think what percent of males in first world societys fall into each bracket?

    For example do you think:

    80% of men are untrained
    12% of men are novices
    6% of men are intermediate
    1.5% of men are advanced
    0.5%% of men are Elite

Pure speculation, post what numbers you would guess at

I think you are pretty accurate, I may push the curve down a little further though. Think of all the people you know or have met. How many are overweight (meaning the numbers they must lift are higher than they are capable of). Then look at all the skinny nerds you know or have met. Let me put it this way; only 1% of us sign up for military service and of those I would have to say only 50% could do the novice or above. Now compare your average soldier against your average American Male. Thus I say.

    82% Untrained
    13% Novices
    4% Intermediate
    0.95% Advanced
    0.05% Elite

I think my elite may be a bit high to be honest.

That first list is way to low. The one from elite is what i am working towards.
