A child is just that, a child. He lacks the mental cognition to make rational decisions a good portion of the time. A woman is a full grown adult. A more correct analogy would be placing a 5'4 130lb guy in a situation where he swings at you. Would you try bear hugging/restraining him or would you retaliate and give him what he deserves?

If I was being attacked by the female of a same approximate size, as I'm only 170, I would have no qualms with defending myself. I wouldn't annihilate a female though, I would just defend myself without being excessive and try to diffuse the situation.
