Any Golds Gym members out there ?

Columbus is building a new Golds SUPER gym and it looks awesome. Its a huge muti-level all glass structure. They arent finsihed yet but the place is half the distance to my home!! YEA!

So Im thinking about investigating and was wondering for those of you that belong do you like? what kind of membership fees do you have?

I currently belong to Ballys (I hate it) its so old and rundown. dirty... no respect to the equipment etc..
the hours are horrid. I picked up another evening job and I dont get out till 9pm now..my gym closes at 10pm..so this has really screwed up my schedule!!!
the plus side I pay 25$ a month. BUT for what Im geting it isnt all that great.
so Im thinking of moving and was wondering all your thoughts?

Is Golds more of a "hardcore" gym... I wont feel funny going there with my skinny self? LOL I guess I have always heard that it was mostly hardcore without all the fluff...I dont need fluff though ..but I dont want to feel out of place either!

I don't think there is such thing as Hard core gym any more unless it's a small privately owned gym. i belong too Gold's but its here in Canada so I don't know if the fees are the same. The owner of the Gym that I belong too keeps the Equipment updated and I have some pretty wild work outs. If you are asking if its worth the time and money I would have to say yes based on my past experiences.

I'm sure every Gold's is different, but ours is where the masses go. There are a few of us that compete, but we are in the minority. As far as dues...we pay about $60 a month since ours has raquet ball courts, a pool, a basketball court as well as all the other extras. Ours has pretty normal hours .....open around 5:30am and close at 10pm.....earlier on thr weekends. I bet yours will give out day or even week trials when they open. The best part about Gold's is the travel passes....when you go away on vacation you can grab a pass and workout at any Golds....anywhere! That's the best deal! Give it a try!!!

I pay 43 per month, but that's a one year membership that goes month-to-month after one year.

If I had paid $100 up front, I would have got a 3 year membership at $30/mo

I love our Gold's. It's pretty big, basketball, racquetball court, rock climbing wall, lots of weights and cardio. People who work out there are really nice and considerate.

It even has a Planet Smoothie built inside it.

here its 29 a month at golds and is open 24/7..i just started goin there .cause my friends quit goin to world gym (where i still go) cause they took out alot of good equipment and put in way too many cardio machines

I joined a new Gold's Gym here in Greensboro about a year ago and I have been pleased. The staff is nice, the equipment is new, it's a mile from my house and they have everything I want in a gym except a pool or jacuzzi. I paid $700 up front for 30 months. There are a variety of types of people. One of my coworkers recently joined because they have a women's weight room.

I really like my Gold's. I'm pretty sure they're all privately owned franchises, so they probably all have different fee structures. Ours is $60 a month for the 2 of us, 2 yr contract saved us $18 a month over the 1 yr. It's cheaper than the 'country club' one that serves you beer on the tennis courts, but waaay nicer than the fitness 19. I was concerned about the 'hardcoreness' of the golds name when hubby finally talked me into setting foot in a gym for the first time in my life. After a year of the hoighty house-wife types I was more than happy to make the switch to Gold's! And now that I know what I'm doing in the weight room, it makes me laugh that I ever was worried!

One of the cool things(besides the travel passes) is the online class schedules, I don't have to bring home the stupid calendar and store it!

I just hope that they are open later than 10pm here...thats the problem I have now

Im a nightowl!! plus its the "most convient" with my lifestyle.

my wife and i pay $40 a month for our memberships at Gold's we both got in on specials. She joined before they even opened, and then I joined later with an add on special. The one we go to is a good mix of people, loads of cardio bunnies, but also there are some hardcore lifters as well. The dumbells go up to 200 lbs, though I have not seen anyone pick those up yet lol. Ours also closes at 10pm on weeknights and 6pm weekends. That is not cool but overall I enjoy it.
You may want to ask to see if they will let you try before you buy, jstu tell em you are thinking of switching from bally's and they will probably let you workout a few times at no charge to convince you they are worth it.
