Ok, I pulled the trigger and bought the dumbbells. Except I went with the rubber instead of the iron. I still got the 5 - 75 lb but this time I got two racks with saddles.
Total was $2,922.00 shipped to door.
The specs for the db's are: Pro-Style Dumbbells in Virgin Rubber. A 32mm hard chrome handle with a medium knurl.
For some reason the pics I put up the first time went away....lol....I'm not very good with this tech stuff. I put them up again a few post below.
Have you ever used cemco dumbbells? If so, what do you think about them?

How did you know?..........freakin great guess unless you visited my first thread where I was asking for advice.
Anyways, how do you like cemco db's? Have you or anyone you know of ever used any?
Cemco gave me the name and address of someone that bought the same db's a few months ago. The person said that he did not mind if I visited his place to try them out..........I did and loved them.
I love solid steel db's or even the iron db's that are assembled but I am so glad I got these ..........then again my wife had a lot to do with my choosing these. It's a win/win for me.........anytime the wife likes the fact that I spent money on gym equipment I cannot complain.
I'm not so sure she would have been as approving with the solid steel or assembled type........or at least that is the impression I got when she turned her nose up at the iron and solid steel sets.
I could have got solid steel (from another company cause the salesman said cemco stopped making solid steel db's) for not much more than I paid for these but like I said the wife really did not like em.......The solid steel would have been my first choice if I was single........lol........especially for only another $750.00.
Oh well, I got a pretty good set of db's compared to the fitness gear hex I had before and the wife is happy so it was a good day.

Damn google....lol.
I'm no where near as tech savvy as you guys in here. I would have never been able to find that just off this:
The specs for the db's are: Pro-Style Dumbbells in Virgin Rubber. A 32mm hard chrome handle with a medium knurl.
I thought there would be a ton of db's with the same specs. Hmmmm.....guess not. Is that good or bad...?
You never did say what you think about cemco or the particular db's I purchased.

Congrats bro, that is one sweet set! Cemco is a great brand that is regarded as top quality. I agree with the statement about the wife...I will always try to include her and ask her opinion, for some reason it seems to get her to go along with the purchase. Reps!

Yep. That is the most money I have paid for anything in my gym.
I have more in my db's than I do all of the following:
Nautilus (full commercial).........(I have $900 total in all my Nautilus equipment after flipping what I did not keep from that pick up)
leg ext (300 lb stack)
prone leg curl (300 lb stack)
standing leg curl (300 lb stack)
abduction/adduction combo (300 lb stack)
Lat pulldown/row (300 lb stack)
Flat/incline bench for db work (ladder style)
the following is light commercial by Body solid:..........( LOL.....I got a whole $150.00 in all of my body solid equipment).
functional trainer (two 210 lb stacks)
series 7 smith machine with gun racks
fid bench rated to 1000 lbs (ladder style)
LOL......still feeling the sting from the purchase but over all I still have very little in my gym for what I have.

I wish I would have knew that 44 years ago.......(the day we got married). LOL...I could have saved myself a HUGE amount of stress and got more of what I wanted/needed.
It sounds like you have a leg up on experience at an early age. Congrats!!!!!!....that in it self is very valuable in a marriage.

The person that sold me the dbs today said that Cemco stopped making the solid steel dbs. I didn't ask why (forgot to by the time I was done paying him) but meant to.
I love the look and feel of most all solid steel dbs. I wonder why they stopped making them?
There are a few companies that still advertise the Cemco solid steel dbs but when you call and ask about them they say they are sold out. EFE was the last place I called before deciding to go with the company I went with. EFE said "we are out of those and will not be getting any that we are aware of".
BTW, thanks for your help with the dbs.

Thanks!
I was hoping someone would come forward saying they had used it and liked it......or at least had saw it in a commercial gym before.
Like I said earlier, I tried them out for a second or two at a guys house that had purchased the same set and I really liked them.
The only reason I came here asking about them was because I've been use to cheapo db's for so long now I forgot how a quality db's felt so I figured I better ask about them just to be safe.
Even though I have already ordered the db's..... the guy told me I had till next Tuesday to change my mind if I wanted to without paying a restocking fee. I am glad to hear so many good things about them. Now the large sticker price don't sting as bad........lol.....still does a little but not as bad.

I'm not sure why they aren't making the solid steel. I heard they are also having trouble keeping up with production of the painted iron pro-grip plates. The owner of CEMCO passed away and his son is managing the business so they may be going through a period of adjustment. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...p?p=1103501053
Did you also buy that rack? If so, it was a good choice. A rack with saddles is always nice but it's necessary to keep rubber encased dumbbells in good condition. The plain (and cheaper) angle iron racks can tear up the rubber. Cemco recommends a rack with saddles on their site.

Yes, that is the rack I bought. I don't think I would like a rack without saddles with pro-style dbs even if they was steel.
I would have bought the solid steel from the 30's up and the 5 - 25 would have been rubber if they still made the solid steel. I would have had to buy the rubber 5-25's for my wife. She refuses to use metal db's again. LOL.......those cheap db's we had that broke made her gun shy about types of db's.
In a way I'm glad we had that problem with those other db's.
Now she understands (her words...lol...) the importance of quality equipment. Quality (most of the time) will cost more up front but almost always saves in the long run.
I did not know that the owner passed. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the company continues to do well. I hate seeing the "good" companies fall by the waste side and the companies that are more out to rip you off thrive........kind of funny how that works...huh?
