man 1st time posting on the misc in a while and of course I come across another acne thread... damn just checked almost exactly 11 months ago was the last time I posted... been a long long while.. good to be back
OP what dosage are you taking and how many months you been on it? I know some people say it gets worse before it gets better, but it really shouldnt be that way as Ive not noticed that with people IME, generally about the 3rd month is when people really start to clear up and the side effects generally come more into play here with the chapped lips, nose bleeds and or dandruff/dry skin/sun sensitivity.
truth on accutane
1. it works
2. depression is more related to the social side effects of having acne bad enough to be on accutane. Think about how crappy it feels to have acne bad enough to be on accutane and generally before the dr puts you on accutane they take sometimes 2-3 years of trying other crappy chit that doesnt work (antibiotics, creams etc) and it took some depressed teen 1 year to get his mom to take him in to begin with. So we are talking some of these acne sufferers are already 1-4 years into bad acne issues, kids making fun of them, they feel like chit bc of it and accutane takes a few months before it kicks in to its full effects and kids expect miracles to happen day 1, so of course they are depressed as all hell.
studies on accutane have shown this
1. dosage is WEIGHT/1-10 scale bad of your acne dependent.. OP your face is wrecked with cystic acne.. so its a 9-10 bad.. you say you weigh 215.. ok you need to be on a MINIMUM of 120mgs for 6-7 months. 1st month they usually start you off slow with something like 60mgs then 2nd month 80mgs etc...if they did that then I would do 7 or 8 months.
2. if you did like fintan111's bro did 4 months not high enough dose... then it will come back on you... you have to stay on it long enough and with a strong enough dosage for it to really work its magic. Do it like that and generally 1 6-8 month cycle is all that is needed... sever cystic acne may need even longer and or perm long term small dosage to keep it at bay.
3. the reason you hit it hard and long (depending on your weight and how bad the acne is of course) is that you are trying to alter gene expression of your sebum glands, in other words you are trying to stop them in the future of producing the chit that makes you blow up with big arse pimples/cysts...if you dont do a strong enough dosage for long enough all you do is slow your sebum glands down for a bit and it has a big chance of coming back.
4. I do know of some people who do really well on low dose long term accutane. We are talking like 10mgs a day for years and years. You might try 10 or 20mg daily dose after your complete 6-8 month accutane cycle is over with. Is this super healthy and how could it affect you in the future, well to be honest I dont know. There are some studies that high dose vitamin a over time increases certain diseases ( if I remember right its certain cancers? I wanna say lung but I really would have to polish up on my reading, its been a while)

I found the part about your diet interesting. Have you tried cutting out carbs completely and see how your skin reacts?
This helped me incredibly, I even notice these days I break out when I slack a bit on my carbs for a few days. I don't know how the juiciness will react to the low carb though but personally will trade some size for clear skin.
You have great personality on camera so stay on it and keep on hustling.☆ Member of the Brave 767 crew ☆ Never forget.

Good to see your attitude's so positive OP, I'm sure it'll start working soon. The darkest hour is just before the dawn and all that. Just finished up my Accutane cycle and I'm looking good, 0 red spots, white heads, or black heads to be seen.
Question tho: how the hell do you shave?? Looks like it'd be painful as f*ck
