i have taken 100% whey ON protein for 3 months and 3 months now with none and i have seen zero benefits from taking it. studies i have seen now pretty much confirm what i have noticed...whey protein is bs. it does not actually absorb quickly...something like 8 grams in an hour. and more importantly is there any point to taking protein the second you get home from the gym? i workout as hard as anybody and i really dont believe your body is starving for protein after you workout. i have also tried the insulin spike with 50-60g dextrose and only difference i seen was it harder to lose body fat. my diet really contains nothing super processed anymore now that i have stopped taking whey and have changed nothing else and i look leaner then ever. who really knows what is in that crap any..its not regulated...your taking the supplement companies word and there taking your money. stop wasting your money on supps and eat real food! found another study that says whey spike your insulin more then white bread. has anyone actually seen any gains from this junk?

This my friends is the reason we are like sheep. Listen to marketing hype, no critical thinking skills involved, product has not met expectations and now you're made at whey protein. No, be mad at yourself my friend.

That's your problem right there! There's a 6 minute window immediately after your workout to get the benefits from whey. I notice if I don't get my protein in that window I won't grow at all. I have 7 scoops with a gallon of water NO MORE than 6 minutes postworkout and I'm seeing all kiiiiiiiiiinds of gaaaaaaaainz.
Aaaaaall kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiindzzzzzzzzz

If we speak in terms of leucine content, whey is arguably the top source of protein (as it's also a complete source).
HOWEVER, to get a noticable effect from the whey, it probably involves many months and/or years with a very well designed and followed diet - that's if it will present an effect at all. But it's true that whey is digested quickly (about 1-2 hours), and yes, I've read the studies.
OP, whey will not give you the mad gainz in 3 months. Hard work and lots of food will.--CUBE--

Whey Protein isn't BS. The claims behind Whey Protein is BS. Whey is a high quality protein. Protein Shakes also help you meet your daily macro needs. But with that being said you don't NEED Whey protein. And the assumption that you need a Whey Protein shake after a workout is dumb because if you eat protein it will be available in your bloodstream after you work out. Also after you workout it takes 24-72 hours to repair your muscles so you just need enough protein to repair them, and the dumb assumption that you NEED Whey after a workout because it's critical when in reality it's not because muscles take 24-72 hours to repair not immediate repair.

If you do not consume enough calories, you do not make gains, regardless of protein intake
Timing of it does not matter, the body is not starving postworkout - eat however you want.
Protein powders are not magic, treat it as powdered "food" if you do not eat enough, then you are literally just spending your money to NOT MEET your caloric requirements.**If any information in my posts helps you, take a moment to let me know somehow**

Whey protein does have a legitimate place in every athletes supplement cabinet... the KEY word being SUPPLEMENT. It is definitely best to try and get your nutrients from whole foods since digestion of those foods burns calories and keeps our systems functioning properly versus just drinking your nutrients. However trying to balance life (work, school, social activities, etc.) with building muscle & eating to grow it doesn't always fit into our schedule, hence the need to SUPPLEMENT. The reason athletes eat every few hours is to not only keep the metabolism moving and fuel the body but also to keep it in a positive nitrogen balance (which protein consumption does) avoiding catabolism, so when you need a snack or are gonna miss a meal including a rich protein source, then a whey protein shake is the perfect solution.
