Anyone have any updates on Kevin Ogar?
For the unawares: Orange Coast Crossfit competition was this week. Apparently they on Snatches. He snatched, squatted/seated, lost control and the bar landed on his mid/lower back.
Triple snatching his max weight....fuuuuuugg. Social media says he severed his spinal cord.

Last I heard he lifted with ****ty form and a barbell penetrated his angus severing his spinal cord. Doctors said it was the worst case of crossfit they've ever seen. Its expected his angus has recieved irreversible damage and he'll never walk again. Currently there is no news on the condition of the barbell.

I hope he sues those kunts for everything they're worth and the entire company crumbles... why are Xfit the only *******s around who can open an exercise studio and not have a single link on their website about the trainers qualifications OR EVEN WHO THEY ARE?

01-13-2014, 07:06 AM #14We just wrapped up a weekend of competition at the OC Throwdown, and while there is much to celebrate and recap, now is not the appropriate time for that. The full focus and energy of the Invictus community should be with Kevin Ogar. Kevin suffered a significant spinal cord injury during a snatch event at today’s competition. As reported by his friends at Barbells for Boobs, Kevin does not yet have voluntary movement below his waist.
I don’t know Kevin personally, but I know the character of athletes in this community. I know that in order to get to Kevin’s level of performance an athlete has to show years of dedication, hard work and continually overcome perceived obstacles. I also know that Kevin is part of a community that will provide their unrelenting support to ensure that he has the resources he needs during his recovery.
As is far too common in our industry – and among seemingly invincible young, high-level athletes – Kevin is uninsured. His recovery process will take time and resources, and I believe that as a community we must rally together to ensure that money is not an obstacle in helping him receive the highest quality health care. Fundraising efforts are being organized, and Invictus will give it’s full support to those fundraising efforts as soon details are finalized. In the meantime, I ask that you direct your thoughts and prayers to Kevin Ogar and his family.
I wonder how much weight it was.... That is terrible...

I don't care how much you hate CrossFit or think its stupid etc, this is another persons life, and the people making jokes about it are ****ing ridiculous. Teasing is one thing, but when a person is paralyzed that's no joking matter.
I don't care how big of a prick you are on a day to day basis, that's pretty ****ing low to act like that. The internet isn't an entitlement to be a piece of ****.
Karma is a bitch, and I hope you get a nice truckload of it.
That being said, I have no idea who this guy is, but show some respect.Follow my transformation at http://whole360.blogspot.com/

I know it does no good, but it's stupid to be a complete prick to someone you don't know and has a terrible injury like that just because you can hide behind a keyboard.

I'm interested to see how he actually injured himself, if it was a freak accident while lifting then he deserves full sympathy but if he was doing something moronic like close to 1rm c&j's for time then he deserves anything he gets.
Either way he'll never have to pay a bill again in his life if it was a form related injury at a xfit meet... lawyers will eat that chit up.**#3 always delivers crew**

Just read an article in Time magazine about crossfit. It seems like the medical community is concerned about it too. There is a condition where your muscles break down too fast and causes all sorts of blood problems. Its a serious condition but crossfitters use it as a badge of honor. A doctor put his concerns up on a ******** page and was attacked via social media.
That really sucks about that guy.New and improved crew

Hey meat-heads, let me learn you something today. A few free lessons, since your education level seems to be sub-par from the rest of the world.
1. Rhabdo is not specific to Crossfit. I got hit with it by jumping into a team ride (cycling) too quickly after taking too long of a hiatus. There are cases documented from just about every sport imaginable and yes, even straight up, weight-lifting. Dumb-asses.
2. Only a total D-bag would make fun of someone they don't know who suffered a life-changing injury. But then again, this is bodybuilding.com what else should I expect. OK nevermind on this one...
3. I guarantee that if any of you actually knew Kevin Ogar, you'd like him. And he'd like you. Despite your differences of workout preference. Kevin is a great guy with a huge heart and everyone who knows him loves him.
Go back to posing in front of mirrors and pretending that you're impressing everyone around you, sucking down who-knows-what neon-colored liquids from a dirty milk jug, and living in whatever the hell fantasy worlds you all live in and give this guy a break. He doesn't deserve it. Stay classy, "bodybuilders".
