Hey ladies, I am hoping to get some feedback about getting your hair cut short. I have always had long hair. Right now it's shoulder length. I'm really thinking about getting a new short cut. But I'm scared. Of what? Well that it will turn out bad, and that I will regret it, and also going to work and hearing comments from the people I work with. Any feedback or advice from anyone who went short? Do you like it? Was it worth it? Etc.....
Thanks for any responses.

I've see-sawed between long and short for most of my adult life. If you cut it and you don't like it, it will grow back. And it's never as bad as you expect it to be while it's growing back.
Right now mine is about half way down my back, but I'm already planning on chopping it off into a short bob before the end of the year.
Just go for it!Leave all the afternoon for exercise and recreation, which are as necessary as reading. I will rather say more necessary because health is worth more than learning.

I've had pretty much any length hair you can have besides shaved and past my butt. I loved my pixie but it was the worst hair cut EVER to grow out. I will never go that short again. Other than that I'd probably do just about any of them again.
I'm a stylist, if you felt comfortable you could inbox me a pic of your face (that sounds weird lol), I could help you with picking a style/length that would work best on you.

This! You'll need more frequent cuts and "letting it go" will show more. I had long hair for years and recently went to a spikey pixie. I love the low maintenance in the morning, but I get it cut every 5 weeks in a decent salon. Check the internets on face shape and short hair cuts, as some can rock it better than others. Hair grows about 1/2" a month, more if you're hitting you protein macros . Have some fun and don't forget to get some sweet earrings!

I personally would never go super short. I can't imagine what the growing out stage would be like if you didn't like it. If you do don't skimp on the cost. If the person messes it up you dont have much room for improvement.

^This.
And have her be instructive in her styling so you can replicate the look. So many people get their hair cut short, love what they see before they leave the salon, wake up the next day and realize they have absolutely no idea how to wear it and style it.
My face is pretty round, so I don't really look good with short hair but I love seeing other people take the dare and I kind of see it as a sign of maturity amongst my age group (20-somethings). HS and college were the years of everybody being obsessed with length and long hair (no matter how bedraggled, oily/dry it looked, no matter how many split ends their were from lack of trimming!) and beyond that people finally realize the sophistication and stylishness and versatility of short hairstyles.

Im a fan of short hair...its different seeing as the trend is alway long kim k hair that every girl has. I have an under cut I think its called idk but you do have to find a good stylist and be prepared to go to the salon once a month bc any growth and your whole style is thrown off but its super easy especially with working out every day...plus all I do is finger comb it every morning...its great..but im not sure what id do when I want to grow it out...awkarrrdd..ill wear a wig then I guess lol

I've had curly blond hair down to my butt, and short bleach blond hair that I could hardly tie up! Short was awesome for training and totally hassle free. Another nice thing about short and growing it out is if you get it wrong it's much easier to change it up again. Plus your shampoo and conditioner lasts forever!

LOL...so true
I have short hair (victoria beckham bob) and love it!! My hair is very thin and fine. You have to find a stylist that you trust though. Have them teach you how to style it or you will end up hating it. I've been going to my gal for about 6 years and she modified the cut to fit my head shape. She actually has other clients who see my cut and want it, but they have different shaped heads and the cut just doesn't work for them. Sometimes I wish I had longer hair that I could throw up into a ponytail and be done with it. But I do love my hair most of the time. It takes me a while to dry/style it though. I use 3-4 brushes depending on the length. When it is freshly cut sometimes I can get away with drying it upside down and using just one round brush. The part that sucks is going every 5 weeks for a cut. I was going every 6 weeks for a while, but it just got too long in between. I could probably go every 4 weeks, but I stretch it to every 5 weeks and have my appointments booked through mid 2015. We have been experimenting with purple panels in the front. At first I was scared of doing purple, but now I'm addicted to it and can't live without it
I say go for it!! It will always grow backMy journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=159386641
2018 goals:
Lift more than I did in 2017, which won't be hard because I haven't lifted much since March 2017
Build back the muscle I lost while I went through a "I hate lifting" phase
Love lifting again

I have had super short hair, and I have had my hair down to the middle of my back. Now I stick with shoulder length max, if it gets any longer it starts to annoy the heck out of me. Super short hair is great in terms of maintenance, but requires regular trips to the salon to keep it in some kind of shape. And if ever want to grow it out, it's going to to through that phase where it doesn't make any sense, has no shape, and just looks miserable.

LOL I also used to work in places where more original looks were frowned upon. Now in my new line of work, I have been going nuts with my hair color. I don't think there's a shade of red I haven't tried: purple, magenta, pink, fire red, orange, eggplant... My hairdresser loves it, and she actually thinks of new colors for me to try.

I keep my hair fairly short at the back but longer front, think DLB. Mine is baby pink though so I still have my girliness. I grew my hair back but it just got in the way and I'd end up sweating or trapping it under the bar. I'm just growing the top enough to have clip ins for when I want to have long hair.

I've always had short hair since my mom deigned to chop it off to my chin in kindergarten and then I starting wearing a pixie cut in middle school. However, I've had a completely shaved #0 buzz bald head, too (quite recently, actually), so believe me, nothing to be afraid of, and I'm sure it'll turn out great! It's just hair, it grows back!

Short hair can be incredibly sexy. That said, while I'm not a style expert I'll +1 to "see a worthwhile stylist", because I've seen more than one otherwise attractive women sporting a kind of "wtf?" haircut that just looked like it was trying to work against every feature instead of complementing them.

Nice! As a teenager I loved really edgy hair styles, and my dad being the old fashioned guy he is, used to sent be back to the hair dresser to get it fixed (dad lingo for turning it into boring). So one day I got a buzz cut just to spite him. Talk about something that you can't go back to the hair dresser and fix LOL...
He wasn't pleased.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:
