Best exercises to put on mass on glutes ?

Besides squats, got bad knees and cant do them atm ... do you think straight legged deadlifts are one of the better ones for glute size ?

and i dont really feel like doing hip thrusts, never seen a guy do them in my life

You'd need more than one movement imo.
    Glute kickbacks
    Glute bridges
    SLDL
    RDL
    Glute Ham Raises
    Sumo pulls
High foot positions on leg sleds and hack squat machines work well.
My gym has a butt-blaster (lol) thing that's pretty wicked actually.

You probably should be doing the hip abductor machine also.

Never felt my glutes more than when I did high rep sumo deadlifts. 20 reps, which is way more than I normally do. I do plan to do some sumo pulls tonight but probably only 8-10 reps tops.

If you can't Squat, you're going to have a tough time finding something else that won't also involve your knees.

Leg press variations for sure, since your knees are touchy I'd give some kettlebells a shot. You'd be surprised at the tension in glutes and core, very low stress on the knees vs barbells
