    You're correct soreness and growth do not correlate. I've grew off many workouts i haven't been sore from. Their hasn't actually been any evidential or facts to back up the myths of soreness and hypertrophy. Common myths, broke down muscle fibres, lactic acid waste, overtraining. They could be correct, i don't know. I believe DOMS is an inflammation response to the muscle area trained. Think of hitting a thumb with a hammer, it inflames, it gets sore, blood rushes, it swoles it hurts to use the thumb. thing, everyone here has had an intense leg day, squats destroy our legs, create microtears in our legs so what does it do? Go into recovery phase the first step is inflammation to rush blood to the affected area. Then they get numb and painful like the thumb, why its hard to walk, then it supercompensates like the thumb to recover and return to the normal healthy, painless state, but stronger so am assault in the future won't hurt as much. I guarantee if you hit your thumb with a hammer in a workout pattern it would inflame, compensate, strengthen etc, then eventually you can build up pain tolerance much higher in the thumb, like how squats build out leg strength size etc. Well, that's my 2 cents.

    No, soreness can be an indicator of growth, it's just not a reliable indicator because growth can occur without it. In that aspect, DOMS are a completely user-dependent issue.

    Yet soreness can indicate broken down microfibres in the muscle, so it may indicate some growth. This is not set in stone, rely more on progress than soreness, but you don't have to make it black and white.

    i agree to some extent. people have been saying for years that its from lactic acid build up. i think its just from trauma. tearing, strain, etc
