    The wife

Hi guys, my wife is going to start loosing weight, she has about 3 stone to loose. She does about 2hours walking a day. What would be the best for her to do nutrition wise, I was telling her to work out her macros, but she was saying that's only for people working out. Is it worth her doing her macro calcs and reaching that each day? Or just work out the calories she needs and eat that amount of calories of clean food?

    Thanks in advance

Even if she doesn't work out I'd still say macro's are important. Sure you can lose weight eating garbage but a higher protein intake will likely still help preserve muscle mass which is going to be important if she doesn't want to yo-yo.

If she wants to lose weight in the quickest and most-efficient manner, tracking her caloric intake and monitoring her weight is the way to go. Tracking macros isn't exclusive to only people working out.

It's her choice as to what to do or not do.

But I don't see any logic at all in only trying to get my nutrition only half-right.

I won't even get into the 'clean food' thing.

That's cool guys cheers, seems like its worth doing the macros. She isn't against the macro idea, just assumed its only for ppl working out. Her back is quite bad, so hard to workout, might pop over to the workout forum and ask for good workouts for her situation, that can be done at home

We all require adequate macros (and micros as well), not just for building mass/strength, but also for good health.

Overall calories will determine weight loss before macros will. Get the caloric deficit down while eating sensibly first and then focus on macros. Like ironwill said, the health aspect should be as important as the weight aspect in my opinion.
