JC Tretter with a significant knee injury and will miss a few weeks. So we will be starting a rookie at center opening night against the Seahawks? Das not it mane.

McCarthy mentioned getting second opinions, that's typically not a good sign
On the plus side, it happened two weeks before Seattle, giving the rookie some time to settle in and figure **** out. Could've been worse and we lose him right before Seattle. After seeing what the vikings did to the Chiefs it's probably a good team to break him in.Last edited by AMeyer9; 08-24-2014 at 02:08 PM.

I think we will be fine, Linsley was giving Tretter a little push in training camp. For the DT spot Boyd and Pennell have potential, we have to remember that Raji was bad the past 3 years.

Loss of Raji not devastating to defense

Agree with this. PFF has Linsey has 3rd rated center through preseason. Granted he was a backup playing against backups, but if you are dominating backup defensive lines then you probably aren't going to be terrible against first string guys. Center was the best spot to take an OL injury because there are still two really good guards playing next to Linsey to ease the transition.

I find it highly unlikely they will re-sign him. Inb4 raiders or vikings take him.
"James Starks, the No. 2 halfback, has his place in the offense as a tough runner who hits the hole hard. There's no jitterbug, he's just a hammer. But he's almost an automatic drop as a receiver out the backfield. They need to throw 1,000 passes to him before the game."
So true it hurts. And that's what Packers are looking to do more of this year.

Letroy Guion returned to practice today from his hamstring injury. Guessing him and Boyd will be taking a majority of the snaps at nose?

I dont really care if Starks gets a single reception this year. Hand him the ball and watch him destroy DBs.
I have faith in Linsley. The guy has talent and is ox strong. He seems to have a confident personality and I would be surprised if he choked in Seattle.

What? Starks doesn't have great hands but he's serviceable enough to catch out of the backfield. I remember he had a nice grab out of the backfield last game that he picked up a pretty big gain on. He's good enough that teams have to respect it with him in there.

Was not expecting Harper to be one of the first people cut. I thought he looked pretty good honestly

Packers have given up on TE Colt Lyerla and waived him with an injury settlement.

He was too hot and cold, and with how packed the Packers' WRs are this year cuts have to be made at that position.
Jordy, Cobb, Boykin are the obvious mainstays, and then you have a bunch of promising guys drafted this year like Adams, Janis and Abbrederis as well as the fringe guys from last year like White and Gillett, and it makes for a hard position to crack into
