WTF misc was in Paris for about 11 days. Spent a few days prior to Paris in London. Paris is dirty as phuk. Chinese tourists everywhere. Lines for everything.
Indian people making crepes?! uwotm8?!
Seine river looks like its infested with poop.
Massive dog sized rats in the metro. Metro smells like piss. Brb nobody speaks English. Poverty metro system compared to Tokyo.
Brb felt like I was going to get robbed/stabbed/pickpocketed at any moment.
Les Halles, most ghetto station I've ever visited. So many black people.
Printemps is chit. Galaries Lafayette was poop. Colette sucks hard.

I just got back from there with my wife, did the whole shebang tourist thing. I was not impressed. Everything is cramped and dirty. We went on a eurotrip and hit Hamburg, Germany, Kosice Slovakia, Budapest Hungary, Paris France, then Dublin, Ireland. I definitely would advise against making an entire vacation out of visiting only Paris. The city hopping thing is where its at incase you dont like the city you are only stuck there 3-4 days

I remember Paris being quite nice. Somewhat dirty, but nice. That said, I was 12 when I went. A bunch of friends went recently and said that they were the only white people there when driving through and that they constantly got dirty looks. Not sure how sensationalised that is, being that we live in a 99% white area and anything less than that is unusual for them, but they didn't enjoy their brief drive through at all.
I'm sure it'd still be great if you're on that CEO 10K/day time though and enjoying the high end of things.

Western Civilization as a whole is going to the dogs. It's filled with poverty, moral degradation, and an overall foreboding sense of failure.
Paris has always been chit. It just used to be less chit than most places, but the other piles of chit are quickly catching up.
The Paris we are mystified by is nothing more than a fantasy.
Merde.

Paris is pretty dirty I guess. And north paris has a serious bum problem. But there are a lot of chill places. The eiffel tower isn't great looking up close but neither is the statue of liberty. Hell the SoL is short man...
But I'd rather spend more time in Paris than london. London was ok, but I walked that whole city in 3 days and didn't really feel like I had anything left to see.
Paris you could spend a week in the louvre alone. Plus the food in london is mostly awful, compared with Paris, where ALL THE FOOD is amazing. Its not how strong you are, its how good your aim is from 500 yards.

idk, maybe you visited the wrong areas
i last went 5yrs ago in 2008, and i thought paris was way superior to London. London is much more cramped. Paris has more wide open spaces, especially near the champs-elysees
my favorite is the Trocadero. best vantage point from which to view the Eiffel Tower at sunset
of course, I have basic conversational French. I think that makes a big difference. Everyone I met was extremely nice to me once they saw me making an effort to speak french. If you are all "herp derp, Speak American you frogs", then obviously they are gonna be rude to you.

Major cities just suck in general. They may have a couple highlights that really bring out that "feel"... that reason why tourists visit that city in the first place. Beyond that, more often than not that city is ****ed.

I've been to Paris a few times and enjoyed it. The people were extremely nice to me srs. Our waiter at a little cafe hooked me and my friends up with free drinks at his friends club. Some dude on the metro walked us to our destination instead of giving us directions. But it does smell like **** there and the Eiffel Tower is a hunk of metal.
You wanna talk about dog **** Seattle is the worst. Spend a few days there and hated it. Now Vancouver is the GOAT tourist city, everyone is really nice and the city is beautiful.FSU
