In gaining muscle strength and aesthetics
U r either born with good genes that can do the above or ur not no amount of training a certain way or eating a certain way will change your genetics.
I have a friend who watches diet trains hard but still holds a ton of fat even after a year of cutting

Genetics is an excuse for those unwilling or unable to test their limits in my opinion. Everyone can make something great, the human body is remarkable.
Tired of ppl blaming things on genetics all the time. More like 80% nutrition 20% proper training and 100% dedicationPersonal Trainer and WBFF Pro Classic Physique

Genetics are a huge factor in bodybuilding...but everyone is capable of creating something significant if they dedicate 100%.

Genetics does play a role in it, I can't remember where but I've seen videos and read articles that explain that each individual person has their own potential limit. In other words, not all of us can acquire the same body Arnold Schwarzenegger has, but we do have enough control to make a significant difference in our bodies.
I'd say it's 20% Genetics, 50% Diet, 30% training.

real talk: a healthy person with ****ty insertions will NEVER look super pretty on stage
HOWEVER, a person with ****ty genetics can still attain roughly the same amount of muscle at a given body fat as someone with better predisposition through epigenetic changes, although it will take somewhat longer.

My "genetics" are not good, look at any of the before pictures of me and not once in a million years would I have "good genetics". 6 years later I have made decent progress with lots of work left to do. The problem is people set standards for themselves in comparison to someone else's body. The focus is on becoming the best version of yourself that you can be. While your friend certainly sounds as though he's worked his butt off (which I don 't doubt), I would guess that what his goal is would be the issue. If you want to do bodybuilding/aesthetics or whatever the heck you want to call it, you will probably need to invest in training and work with someone who can train you for that specific goal. Otherwise I can guarantee that it's not going to be effective or that it will take much much longer to get there. But that's just my opinion of course

Yeah genetics is a very huge factor; 80% is spot on OP. So tired of people with good genetics saying it was just their diet and routine lmao. Ive seen people dedicated as fuk but continue to look like chit regardless of how good they diet etc.
Also bone structure. For example you can literally be doomed to a perma hourglass figure with genetically wide hip bones. Genetics is literally everything. Such is life.

brb legs grow with 3 sets a week

brb biceps wont grow super sets, dc, hit, gvt, nada feels bad mayne
genetics play a huge role witch some people dont understand
dat being said dont be a lazy/sad kunt"I bet your parents taught you that you mean something, that you're here for a reason. My parents taught me a different lesson, dying in the gutter for no reason at all... They taught me the world only makes sense if you force it to."

Lol save it bro. No disrespect but based on your before photos you have average genetics, which OP's buddy would probably kill for.
Normal hip bones and waist ratios (no wide hips etc). Yeah your genes arent great but they are pretty average which is all you need to look good. Some people are totally fuked like those with wide hips etc
