Welcome to the 7th edition of the Trading and Investing Thread.
ITT, we talk about Trading a variety of securities; Stocks, Currencies, Real-estate, Lending Deals, and anything else that makes us money!!
ITT, we also talk about strategies for retirement, savings, and finding deals.
ITT, we also talk smack about anything and everything .... however if this gets out of hand then you will be asked to get on task or leave.
Disclaimer
Trading and Investing should not be taken lightly, and we of this thread assume NO responsibility if you choose to invest in anything we mention!
Investments come in many shapes and sizes and you should ONLY put real money on the line when you feel that you are ready to accept the worst case scenario. Very few investments are considered a "sure thing". ITT we understand that investments are looked at in terms of risk:reward and bring with it certain levels of probability. We try to put the odds in our favor and diversify our risk.

Whats everyone bullish on in 2014? I'm hitting Uranium mining hard.
1. Prices still depressed from Fukushima disaster
2. China's pollution from endless coal plants is starting to turn the entire nation toxic
3. China has more money than they know what to do with and an exploding middle class demanding change, Nuclear might be most logical option to facilitate energy needs of a population that large if they (and i think they will) make a shift away from coal burning.
My small cap company of choice is already up 10% since I bought in a few weeks ago. What are you guys leaning towards in 2014?
Other than that I just have a fairly typical portfolio of balanced Index ETFs. But I'm tempted to short some Film Industry giants like Viacom and Disney. I feel like some Summer blockbuster busts are coming for 2014, huge speculation though.*No Sig Crew*

In. I've played around with a Forex demo account two separate times. First time I lost money, second time I got around 20 on a few trades. I like Forex but not sure if I like it enough to continue it consistently though

Is this where non regular misc herpderpers crowd up the 1st page?
"At the cost of being repetitive, I have to once again state my amazement at the aspect of human nature that allows us to mix the most rigorous skepticism and the most acute gullibility"
"As drowned worshippers do not write histories of their experiences (it is better to be alive for that), so it is with the losers in history, whether people or ideas"
"Secular bull markets are designed to take the least amount of people along for the ride as possible, call it universal law."

Adding my charts that have me questioning the strength of the bull. While we may be closing out 2013 strong, what will 2014 bring? Hrmmm...I'll park this right here and check back from time to time.Last edited by mcichocki; 12-29-2013 at 09:51 AM.

Welcome to the fundamentals game brah. Once you're well-steeped in guys like Graham/Dodd/Buffett/Lynch/Klarman/etc I highly recommend phil fisher to balance it out. He will teach you how to qualitatively analyze businesses and teach you the importance of growth and competitive advantage and how to discover it and the faulty logic associated with selling great companies at fair prices.
It's one of the most crucial aspects to the post-cigar butt Buffett approach to fundamentals.
"I would much rather pay a fair price for a great business than a great price for a fair business" or something along those lines.Gary Johnson
