I am of the Opinion that The matter is grave, and does deserve a strong response.

To me, this "news story" is another example of celebrity gossip cloaked in the guise of serious issues/ current events.

That's right, I said celebrity gossip.

Because he wears camo in lives in (what appears to be) a fairly humble abobe, many Christians see Phil Robertson as "one of us."

He isn't.

He's a rich, celebrity millionaire.

And this is another example of a celeb saying something controversial and getting gobs of attention, which he will milk for all it is worth.

In the end, it will mean nothing to anyone, gay straight, Christian, atheist or agnostic.

The discussions about possible contract violations, etc. are irrelevant.

'Duck Dynasty' is the network's cash cow.

They are free to cut him loose, sue him, or whatever, sure. But they won't.

Celebrities in positions such as this have very little accountability for things that they say and do.

That's just reality.

I still love the discovery and military channel but then then again I only have Netflix so I just get old seasons of their best shows like Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. Just finished watching the two seasons of Making the Cut and my daughters surprisingly loved them, they kept watching because the one episode, army sappers, had a female in it.

Old Jesse made that demand just before the Christmas holiday and gave A&E 72 hours to comply. It appears that nobody at A&E said "Damn, looks like we're going to have to cancel Christmas". No biggie, just don't look him in the eyes when he frowns upon you.

He sees things like this as an opportunity to at least attempt to keep his name relevant, as does Sharpton. So, he has to go overboard in his accusations to try and influence the public.

If your countrymen would turn off the TV (or at least the station), all of this would just simply go away. If there weren't a large market for it, it would be gone.

Yeah true in a way. Just don't think our cable market is very competitive compared to yours and the people deciding on programming seem to put on any old crap like 5th time reruns of old shows I doubt anyone really watches. But yeah if executives responsible for viewing numbers where held responsible for performance in the same way as in American companies I do think it would work.
Just my guess. I am grateful for all the good US programs though, they're not all like these
