I'm trying to cut right now so I've been doing 6 cardio sessions a week. At least 2 of them are interval sessions (I usually do a 1:2 ratio on the stairmaster for 30 minutes) and the other 4 are a mix between steady state and classes. Once I'm done cutting, I'll probably drop back down to 5 sessions a week. Right now I'm 5'8" and 140, but looking to drop a few pounds of fat so will continue this a few more weeks.

I do cardio at least twice a week. The time and exercise chosen varies depending on how I'm feeling and whether or not it's close to leg day. If I do too much high-intensity cardio, my legs and back get cranky (even from no-impact machines like the elliptical trainer), so only one of my workouts is true HIIT, and it is performed a couple of days after my squat workout. During my other cardio workouts, I challenge myself, but I don't push to the limit like I would when sprinting. For instance, I like to increase the resistance on the elliptical trainer and "run" 2 miles or jump on the Stepmill and do a tough (but not torturous) 15-minute interval session followed by a mile-long, ~5 mph power walk on the treadmill. I recently discovered the CrossRobics upper-body cardio machine, which simulates kayaking and is especially nice right after leg day.

Damn I hate cardio. Here is the deal, I aim for 3x a week which usually means 2. If Im feeling like I have all the time in the world and I love being in the gym I will do normal cardio. If I feel lazy or am short on time I do HIIT cardio. Sometimes I feel hardcore and the normal cardio doesnt cut it so after 15 minutes of jogging I will sometimes break out into HIIT just for a challenge. I have a very short attention span so I need something to occupy my brain while Im there, music, TV, something or I will go nuts.

I have tried many types of cardio, but find that you cant go past the running. I run 6 times a week for half an hour each session, it prepares me mentally for the day ahead (puts you in a good mood). I am 5"5 123pounds. Running really makes your legs alot stronger with weights, especially the hamstrings. Go crazy
