For those that have been unaware for the past few years, DayZ was developed as a mod for the military simulator hit ARMA 2.
It was HUGELY successful and miscers had a huge amount of fun running around blowing off everyone's heads to take their sweet lewtz.
Well, they have finally released the ALPHA version of the standalone game, made from scratch to take over as the ultimate HARDCORE zombie game!

This is not a game where you run around thinking everyone's your friend.

This is not a game where you should become attached to your gear or your life.

This is the game that started the recent plague of zombie games BECAUSE IT DID IT RIGHT.

This is the game that will make you feel hopelessness that no other game can.

BE WARNED: This game has just hit Alpha stage and is extremely buggy at the moment.
If you don't want to deal with it, don't buy the game.
It is priced at $29.99 on Steam, they have a special edition on their website for a bit more, and the price will increase as it reaches full release.

You don't buy ARMA 2 for DayZ standalone... it's a standalone game, its own game.

I said in the OP it's $30 on Steam.

Still in alpha so its buggy af and once you get geared there's not much to do, but I can't wait to keep seeing tons and tons of stuff being added continuously! We've had two updates and a character wipe to deal with things thus far, and things are working extremely well for me and Enemy in-game.


I've only encountered a few small glitches, although I'm sure your mileage will vary.

I run an i5 w gtx 660 ..... I have no idea how it runs on anything else, but I run everything at full just fine except for %200 resolution rendering.
