True.
There's no point growing your hair out past a NW2, might as well shave it.
But this is a thread for questions and not discussions, please do so elsewhere.

1.5month on 0.5mg ED + 5% Rogain foam 1/day + 2% Ketokonazole shampoo 2-3times/week reporting. I haven't noticed any excess shedding or continued hair loss. I think I see small thin hairs popping up near the harline, but no signs of thickening yet. The decreased libido is there somewhat, but not all the time. No problems with performance. I think it may be a placebo or mental effect after reading all the scare posts by the < 1%. Should I start expecting any visible results besides the thin hairs near the hairline at the 3mo mark? 6mo? I'll post pics when I get a haircut later this week.

I've been on fin and Kirkland minox since July, hair loss has completely stopped and thinning on the top isn't noticeable anymore. I got on fin at the very first signs of thinning. I remember someone pointed out I was thinning and I literally went to my campus pharmacy and got a prescription a week later. Since I'm in Canada I had to order the minox on eBay. Also to everyone saying shave your head you can all fuk yourselves, bald guys always look worse and only a small percentage of people actually look better bald. Applying minox twice a day and taking a small pill every morning isn't a huge deal at all, I'll gladly do this for the next 40 years. I'll be honest my looks mean a lot to me and I am superficial and want to look good for the opposite sex, come at me.

Hey Red, couple of questions for you - thanks for the thread by the way - to start how much more effective is minox once over twice a day? I use it but the liquid makes my hair super gross and I can only use it at night - the foam makes my hair look a little off so I don't use it in the morning either - any tips on that? As well u mentioned about upcoming treatments (cloning) that is really far away - is there anything else in the pipes that might be out in the next couple years?
And for any Canadians - I use to order my finasteride online but the last few times it kept getting caught at the border - instead i went in to the walmart - saw a random walk-in dr that I never met - and just asked her if I could get generic proscar instead of propecia (way cheaper) and she looked it up, saw it was made of the same drug and wrote me the prescription - its easy to cut and SUPER cheap - like 12 bucks or something -way cheaper than the **** i use to get in from India!
Thanks again red

Has anyone ever switched from rogaine to regaine foam and shed a heap of hair?
I couldnt get Rogaine so i used regaine for a couple of months and lost a chitload of hair. It was that bad that im thinking about just shaving. The ingredients are different. Obviously the Minox is the same but the other stuff is different

Well, the only study we know of is that twice a day 2% Minoxidil produced almost the same results as once a day 5% Minoxidil.
So with that said, it seems either longer exposure or higher concentration of minoxidil produced almost linear hair growth. Up until a point anyway.
I do not think there is much, if any benefit of applying 5% minoxidil more than twice a day, and with that said, the difference between once and twice a day should be lot less than double the results. How much exactly has not been measured to my knowledge. You could try twice a day every now and then if you are up for it, but once a day being the usual is still fine.
No, nothing come out. At least not in the next five years.
Depending on technological and medical advances, a cure should take at least 8-10 more years. Assuming no corporate interventions take place.PhD in Hairloss bro-science

redstar, here's an update on my situation:
I told my derm whats up today. He knew what he was talking, since it was apparent from our detailed conversion about hair loss in general. He agreed to prescribe me proscar, and even offered to have the proscar compounded (crushed up such that 1.1 mg is put into gelatin capsules) for me, although at a slightly higher cost. He said i was on the right track in using minox as well as getting finasteride.
also, the derm said that spironolactone is more likely useful for women than men. It had something to do with a compound in spiro (cant remember what he said) that takes up space in testosterone receptor (inhibits it i think, anyhow its not as useful as we think, but who knows for sure).
Tretinoin for skin care and overall cosmetic purpose was .05%, but with the brand . derm says it doesnt break down under sunlight and can be used in the day unlike other variants.
moral of the story:
-find a high rated derm with at least 20-30 ratings on healthgrades.com. they would more likely acknowledge your need for proscar instead of propecia (saving money)
-know what to ask for

Yes.
I'm surprised that are asking obvious questions, what do you think this thread was all about?
S5 is Spironolactone and Nizoral is Ketoconazole, just brand names for the active ingredient.
Check for progression of hair loss. You don't just take pictures now and asses, you need to have a timeline for accurate assessment.
Usually front shot, left/right profile and top view.
Hair must be damp and combed back in good lightning.
They both have the same active ingredient.
Shedding hair is normal, be sure to follow proper protocol.
Yes it can, but that means it's working.
Spironolactone does the same function in both males and females. It binds to ARs therefore reducing androgenicity from testosterone and DHT. Other anti-androgens like RU does it more powerfully I imagine, and feedback has been amazing from what I hear.
Tretinoin absorbs into the skin pretty fast, it doesn't break down under sunlight unless you go outside shortly after application, or expose the contents to direct sunlight.PhD in Hairloss bro-science

I'm using 5 mg finasteride manufactured by Hetero Drugs Limited (India). It was $9 for 30 pills at walmart. Its diameter is smaller than that of a pea, which makes cutting it into quarters hard.
Also, the derm i was talking about said to just jump into 1 mg ED. He said tapering up was unnecessary. thoughts?
