    Strongman Total Thread

Me and Paul were discussing PL totals and decided we should have a thread for the strongmen to post up their best lifts as well.

We decided on having two separate "totals" one for gym lifts that carry over best to strongman and allows non strongmen to get involved and one for actual strongman events.

    They are as follows.

Gym total = Max Front Squat, Max Clean and Press(oly bar, axle, log, whatever), Max Deadlift

It's strongman so anything goes, hitches, suits, straps etc as long as the weight goes from A to B it is all good. On the Overhead we shall allow a press from the rack for the people who don't have access to bumpers/area where they can clean and press but your number will be docked 15%.

Event Total = Best Farmers Walk, Best Yoke Walk, Best Atlas Stone Load

Farmers and Yoke must be for 60'+ with a 60 second time limit and 1 drop allowed, list the farmers as weight per hand. Stone must be loaded to at least 50"

Post up you best and I'll create a leaderboard

Gym Totals Front Squat/Clean and Press/Deadlift=Total

    I'll kick us off

    Gym Total

    374lb front squat

    264lb axle clean and press

    755lb deadlift

    So 374 + 264+ 755 = 1393

    Events Total

    286lb farmers (no vid)

    660lb yoke

308lb stone (no vid) but can see a 297lb stone loaded at the end of this vid

    So 286+660+308 = 1254

Interesting. Why is Front Squat part of the gym total vs Back Squat?

    Gym total: 415/255 (after 10% dock)/545=1215

    Event total: To be Determined

    In.

    Gym Total - 425/300/625 = 1305
    Event Total - 325/750/340 = 1415

I shall find vids over the weekend. Don't have a lot of events though.

Two reasons. More carry over to most of the events imo and just to change it up a bit more from the standard PL total.
Also typo in original post, dock was supposed to say 15%. Changed it now

In on this, I actually mentioned that we should do something like this a while ago, when HT posted that crossfit total thread.

I will get some vids next week of my sad little gym total, lol.

    We will call it 185.

Also, lifts do not need to be performed on the same day. Kinda like a running tally.

I've always considered my strongman gym total to be front squat/strict press/deadlift. I guess adding the clean doesn't hurt.

    Gym Total 385/265(axle)/565 = 1215
    Event Total 325/600/330 = 1255

I'll see if I can dig up some old videos. I might have to mold some bigger stones too. Right now the 330 is the biggest I have but I have loaded it for 6.

Ill get in on this, although these are outdated totals for me but I am on the comeback train now

Gym Total (Weight was like 215-220)

    386/322 or 301/605

    386 front squat

322lb Clean and Jerk with barbell

old 301lb axle clean and ugly jerk/pressed out thingy

    605lb ramped deadlift

    Events
    300/710 or 750/337

300lb per hand farmers (this vid was like 40 feet, but have done it for 75)

710 yoke for 50 (Beltless, have done 750 belted for 50)

    337 stone to 50 inches

forgot that I actually hit the 337 to 55 inches, unfortunately our next biggest stone was 375ish and I could only lap it. Think I had a 350 in me

Ha...how is that even possible? No leg drive? I'd lose about 70 lbs.

Yeah, when Luke and I were talking, distance was kind of a tough one. I rarely go for heavy competition length runs with a yoke. My 750 was for either 100, or 120 with a drop/repick at the halfway point in a comp, so it was longer....but still my heaviest. I also took 800 for about 40', but that doesn't really represent anything that would be done in a contest. Anything I see is pretty much 60'+ or is part of a medley. Those crazy Europeans have exposed Luke to 130' runs consistently. So, thus the logic in selecting 60'.

Why not? I've front-squatted an EASY 335x5x5, which should equate to roughly 80%. Therefore I can front squat 418.75, but let's call that 420. In fact, men don't use 2.5s, so we should call it 425. Luke, go ahead and update my total.
