Ramy contends with Phil from the front. But from the back, it's still a ways off. He has the width and the lines, but he really needs to put more mass on his back to bring out the separation better. It really lacks thickness and is still immature looking. Not to be an armchair trainer and make this a free weights vs machines argument -- but I follow his workouts and simply think he needs to go back to the basics more to bring out his back (deadlifts, barbell rows, etc).

Phill has such thickness in the back and in his chest, because he is half the Ramy width and ofc shorter muscle will have more thickness. And in the same time why we all said Ramy need this, Ramy need that, but nothing for Phill. Its obvious Phill lacks width, why we didn`t say for once Phill need width to stop being narrow as hell ? To be so narrow and be so big is not aesthetic and balanced and to me always looks ugly, and from the front arms/shoulder overpowering the rest.
Ramy has great back, he problably has the best RLS, Phill has more details, but what really rear lat spread is ? To open your back and to show how big and wide it is your lats.
In the BDB i can`t say anything against Phill, because he looks crazy there and you can`t see the lack on width there.
To me Ramy needs to continue improving. He would probably add size in any area, and he need to come in a lot better condition then the Olympia and the Arnold. To be Mr. Olympia, he not only need to have the best physique, but he also need to beat the judges. So 15 pounds bigger with a lot better condition then this year would probably do the job. Almost forget, he need to keep hes waist down and little bit improve his midsection. Wasn`t that clear like previous years. Also he need to improve his posing. If he works on that he will look even better in some poses. Still lot of work to do, but i believe in him and i hope he finally will do the job in 2017.

You have to compare them in lineup.
A lot of people are also amazed by phil's lat spread and it looks spectacular especially when he is alone. The main area in that pose is back width tho not necessarily the detail. I am not saying detail or muscle development throughout doesn't help. There were judges over the years that gave that pose to Kai over Phil. I read about this on flex magazine and other places. I would rather have Phil's but in the lineup Ramy RLS super super impressive. It is not a flat wall like Kai's either. I would give that pose to Ramy. As for BDB, that still goes to Phil as of right now.Grainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes

The pic is from prej at Olympia. His RLS looks so much better in Arnold Spain in the finals. Looks wider and fuller. Ramy RLS remind me of Ronnie`s one.
The main thing is Ramy is going to improve, while Phill can`t get better then that. He can get only worst, so everything is on Ramy side, everything but the judges.

Ramy made Dexter look ridiculously small, Dexter was even standing almost a foot in front of Ramy when they were compared and it didn't help him one bit. Dexter didn't make Ramy look soft and Dexter didn't overwhelm Ramy with a much better flowing and complete Physique (Ramy was arguably more complete). If crisp condition over very good condition is the only argument for Dexter winning over Ramy, then it is bit of a weak argument when you factor in 60lbs of muscle mass (all in the right places) which Ramy had over him.

Are you that surprised? I am not. Told you they will give Arnold to Dexter because his name is Dexter.
He became the winningest pro of all time.
Now, they will hype Phil vs Ramy for 2017. IFBB isn't that hard to understandGrainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes
