Can someone aware me on how J. Crew shirts fit? I usually have to wear a small in classic fits to fit perfectly. But if I order a small slim would it be built for nonlifting scrawnies?
most mediums are too long and baggy for me

Oh, I didn't know. I thought sprezzy was trying without looking like you tried, putting effort into looking effortlessly fashionable, so that you don't look like your clothes are wearing you. What would you define that as then?
Wikipea gives "a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it"
I always thought the 'art' in this thread was things like perfect fit, i.e shirt length, inseam, use of colour, shirt fit, pants fit, and all sorts of adjustments. We seem to think think and ponder so much about these variables to get them completely right and then bam when you go out and people see you, you look like you just woke up out of bed looking sharp as fuk.
Is there are word for that lol.
p.s. I think leaving the stay button when cuffing looks too sloppy, but each to his ownLast edited by bolshevik; 04-15-2014 at 06:22 PM.

Also, Bolshevik's idea of sprezzatura is correct, 'correct' in the sense that his definition is the most widely used among the classic/ preppy menswear communities.

[QUOTE=Filthadelphia;1233090043]Anything doing wrong?
Looks ok, hard to judge fit given your pose.
Navy (trousers), burgundy (tie) and shades of brown (belt and trench coat) are a few of the most versatile colours around.
My personal take is lost the bulky Windsor knot and instead tie a nicely dimpled double four-in-hand.

I'm no authority, your style is classy, I like the monk straps classy as fuk.
One thing though, I rkn you could do with a better haircut. Something that makes you look more confident and manly. I guess longer could work. Right now you look too meek in my opinion perhaps it's the posture i'm reading into.

Beach wedding on friday and then upscale hotel wedding sunday.
why do people have to get married on the same weekend.
was thinking something like this for the beach wedding. Didn't realize how inexpensive khaki/linen is compared to 100% wool. or keep it simple without the vest.
and then having a hard time deciding between grey or navy for the sunday weddingLast edited by cbad7676; 04-16-2014 at 09:13 AM.

fixed that poverty pic for ya mane.
I like the look, I guess it depends on how dressy or laid back they're being there. But idk how you'd find that out, so I'd go with the vest just because what other chance will you get to dress like that? lol
srsly though, I'd rather be a little over dressed than under dressed any day.

Would not do the vest. The model looks great with it, but most people wearing just a vest ends up looking pretty stupid. Either blazer or just go plain shirt (dont know how warm itll be with a blazer tbh), but would combine with bright colors and a light, summer scent. Keep shirt open if suit, pair with bright pocket square.
For the other even, I personally love the navy suit color @ almost any occasion, grey can look so bland quickly. Use tie/bowtie, either patterned or bright - it'll make you stand out if that's what you want.
Gonna wear navy + orange to my upcoming prom as well.
That feel when haven't been to a wedding since my uncle and aunt got married when I was 6 years old. Might as well just invest in suits and **** for when all my current friends get married in 10 years lawl.freddenmr.tumblr.com

invented left arm cuff myself. Only really works if the cuff is a little big or your lower forearms are small. I think it's more of an uppity look, less skin more formal etc.
I mean, it's sort of right. But the original definition for a word hardly stays. Sprezzy is kind of a fashion paradox, it's "sloppy-neat". It both fulfills the "clean cut" moniker and destroys it. Personally I think it looks stupid. Is prep reserved for kids that go to ivy-league schools anymore?
The way I dress would be called minimalist menswear, classicism, americana sometimes whatever. "menswear" is much different from "#menswear", even. The latter refers to extra-dandy male fashion.
that's why I said general rule you stupid phuck
