there's two types of evolution.
OP is basic 3rd grade science...
However, life from non life is BS.
sadly, neckbeard hardcore religious-evolution *******s mix the two.

lol @ these poverty dog owners here
i have a pure bred german shepherd with AKC papers
buahahhaa can't wait until it becomes an adult, it will be a sexy show dog(lower hind legs and thick chest)
mutts=POverty dogs, gets sick a lot, and has questionable temperament. This is why mutts are worth $50 and pure breeds are worth 800+

American bullies are complete **** dogs. They've lost pretty much all the natural athleticism and strength that the APBT/AST has and become a short, fat, stupid, massively inbred dog that can barely even breath, much like the english bulldog. The unethical breeders that created these dogs should be ashamed.

what's $2000 when you get a crappy $200 mutt or backyard breed dog and have to pay thousands in vet bills just to keep it alive
buying a mutt is worse than buying a pure breed because the health issues are questionable whereas health issues for pedigree dogs have specific targets
this is why I NEVER ADOPT. Always buy from a breeder
adopting=you are contributing to a backyard breeders mistake

You're assuming that all "mutts", as you put it, have out of the ordinary health problems, with is not correct. Many of the health issues that purebred dogs have come directly from their genes coming from a relatively small genetic pool. This is not an issue in mixed breed dogs. I actually think a lot of mixes has LESS health problems over than pure bred dogs.

heres an article on the dal program
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-s...ents-1.1138766
really cool dogs
edit: quote from the reading program
Paws To Read
Paws To Read matches child certified therapy dogs and handlers with children who struggle to read. Kids read to the dogs and are encouraged to pick books they think the dog would like to hear. The dogs provide undivided attention to the kids as they read aloud. We captured some special moments at the Woodlawn Library in Dartmouth as St. Bernard "Roc" listened to young readers with handler Mark Grant at their regular training sessions. Studies have shown that reading to dogs encourages confidence and boosts self-esteem in children who struggle to read aloud in class. The Paws To Read Program is offered in select libraries throughout HRM. For further information, contact the HRM Library in your area.

The problem with show dogs is just that, they are bred for looks only. Nothing to do with how they perform physically. Many dogs breeds were created or perfected to perform a certain task, in a physical sense. With the exception for the breeds that are used in police and military work this is not really the case anymore, so you end up with dogs that some middle aged lonely women as been breeding to look good trotting around a ring, with no other purpose or actual ability.

this is a major misconception.
buying a pure bred dog from a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder will give you OFA health clearances from its parents to insure that it will be a healthy puppy. It's also easier targeting specific health ailments so that you will be prepared to treat it as soon as it arrives.
whereas adopting a MUTT/poverty dog/mongrel (aka you are contributing to a backyard breeder's mistake) has an unknown lineage, so you never know what problems it will have when it becomes an adult. For example a german shepherd/labrador mix might have hip displaxia especially if the parents weren't OFA certified.
fact is, buying a $150-$100 mutt is not worth it. You will on average be paying more on vet bill over time compared to an $800 pure breed dog.
do your research. I'm an owner of an AKC german shepherd i bought from a breeder. Both parents had health clearances. I paid $500 for it
