Any Muay thai fanatics?

Hi there,

I thai boxed for 5 years, then had a break of a few years and am just getting back into it. I'd be interested to hear from any thai boxers about their training schedules. I have to drop about 5kg to get back to my former glory.

I go boxing on Thursday or Friday evenings for an hour and on saturday and sunday for an hour and a half during the day. Monday-thursday I do a 4 day weights split at lunch times in the gym.

Should i be incorporating some running into my schedule too?

it sounds like what you're doing will be good for your conidtioning, but for pure weight loss do some running either early morning on an empty or nearly-empty stomach, or later at night before you go to sleep to keep your metabolism burning overnight.

Thanks, i was thinking of running 2 mornings a week or using the gym for cardio if it's snowing. I've been training again for a month and eating clean and I've lost about 4 percent bf but i've put all the weight on in muscle.

Considering dropping the weights to just 2 or 3 full body sessions a week.

I know I need to monitor my diet more closely. All this training makes me HUNGRY!

I think that would be a good idea on the weights. Or lift more for endurance than for size...

I was doing a comination of thai kickboxing and submission wrestling a year and a half ago. I trained for that 2 days a week, lifted total body mon, wed, fri., did 20 min. bodyweight workouts on tuesday and thursday and ran about 2 miles 4 or 5 days a week. I dropped 9 lbs. in 4 weeks and was aleady at 9.5% when I started. Diet was clean.
