    Out of Energy

Today I was deadlifting and could not hit my PR, couldn't actually budge it. I did 20 lbs under PR the set before with no issue. I drop weight by 80 lbs and could not budge that either. I did not eat a ton today and did not have the energy. Could this be the main driver to
My fatigue? How many calories do you guys eat on a lift day. I'm 204lbs and try to keep my intake to 2500 a day. This is the first time this has happened to me. I lift only 4 days a week and feel I get a good amount of rest. Reps. Thanks

Probably just an off day. You should just continue monitoring it and take a deload if necessary.

Also, 2500 cals for 204 lbs seems kind of low. I'm eating around that much at 185.

I have been told I should be at 3000-3500. For me that's a lot of food in a day.

2500 seems very low for 200 lbs. I'm 170 lbs around 17% Bf eating ~3k per day as a college student gaining weight slowly. Sedentary except gym 3x per week and walking to and from classes.

2500 seems low. I am just over 200 lbs and I need to eat around 3000-3200 just to maintain my weight.

2500 cals is what I eat when I'm cutting about a pound a week.

If you are even in a slight caloric deficit, that will bite into recovery significantly.

I eat at least double that on days I train. Over that still on days I don't train. Lack of food was not your issue. Your mind was. You have to really want it to be able to perform even on your worse days. I'm not talking about getting All amped up for a lift either and I don't think that's necessary.

I agree today I was not all there either. Prob a combo of not eating enough and not ready to lift.

Agreed on this. but seriously 3k is easy for me to hit even at 160-170. Eat something with more calories if you have to. Hard to hit 3k on brocolli. EASY with steak, ground beef, pork, rice, sauce, nuts, butter, bread, whatever.

My maintenance is 2500 and I'm EXTREMELY sedentary. I work from home and literally sit on the couch all day.

Listen, the percieved "energy" you talk about, the "fatigue" feel is not always because of low calories. Eating does not give you "energy" in the sense you mean and certainly, not eating enough calories for just a morning won't be a reason so you lose 80 lbs on your deadlift.

It would take you 1-2 days so you actually lost strength because you didn't eat something. What you should be looking at first is HYDRATION, you can have a great workout even if you are fasted for 12 hours but if you are not hydrated enough, trust me your performance will be $hit. Could be other things too, like inconsistent technique or a flu. But certainly, just not eating enough a morning is NOT the reason to lose 80 lbs. The human body simply doesn't work that way.

Only lost 20lbs the 80lbs was on an Attempt set after I hit a higher weight. Hydration could be a a key. I have not been drinking as much the last 2 days at work due to being busy.

Hydration is big for me too. Little things add up.

And agree with the calories...I am a 135lb female that maintains around 2600 chasing kids and some part time computer work.

I would likely call it a fluke, brush it off, eat and drink well and get after it next time.
