Shipping guns is such a pain though.

Try telling them that when you drive through the wrong state.

I've heard Chicago is very forgiving of those sorts of things.

Traveling across the US in a bit. I know I can technically lock up my guns and bring them with me as long as I'm careful about which states I stop in. Any of you guys have experience with actually doing this? Is it worth the potential hassle given the weather this time of year?

Visiting family and want to be able to shoot. I will probably just leave them. I have a CCP that is valid in all but one of the states I'm traveling through(IL), but my residency just changed. I confirmed it is still valid, but don't need any confusion along the way.

from what I have read as long as the gun is not in reach ie in your trunk you are good to go. Federal Law says you may transport your unloaded, cased gun, separated from the ammunition, in an area of your vehicle not accessible to the driver anywhere in the U.S

The challenge/concern in my mind is if weather forces me to stop in "safe" state (ie, IL). No protection

If the weather is that bad where you have to pull over and get a hotel I doubt police will be patrolling around and searching vehicles in hotel parking lots. That would be the only time you were stationary is at the hotel. I would say you have little to worry about.

Goldie, I'm sorry you didn't get the job you wanted. Should have signed up for the Army or AF, brah. Honestly no matter what you did, you'd spend a lot of time hating it and wondering if you'd made the right choice. You'd also have a lot of fun with it. And I'll tell you this, I had a lot of fun at times when I was in the Army, but there are a lot of times I wish I had been in the infantry as well. Those guys may have a shtty job a lot of the time, but they also get to have the kind of fun that POGs don't usually get, and they seem to make a lot of really close knit friends, which is what happens when you have to rely on the guys left and right of you to cover your back and keep you alive. Make the best of it, know that no job is ever what you expect it to be in the military, and remember that you're doing a damn good thing and you'll be better off for it.

If you are worried disassemble the mags and put each one in a ziploc. They are now rebuild kits or parts
