Crossfit is the figure skating of the "fitness world". slinging small weights around with terrible form doesn't make you strong. it makes you good at slinging small weights around with terrible form. I mean it's really just an excuse not to lift heavy weight.

In that case, yea. He is right. But, it sounds like he is being a dick about it for no reason. Next time he brings up, say "Look, you might f*cking suck enough at everything to care what other people do, but you are hindering my personal journey to better myself. So, mind your own f*cking business. Or, don't. Just go f*ck yourself either way."

The only thing that bothers me about crossfit is the general attitude most crossfit people have. I do try to incorporate some "crossfit-esque" type things into my cardio days to build up endurance. As far as fitness goes the crossfit guys have to take the edge because it is pretty high intensity for cardio reasons. But most of the crossfit guys look like they dont lift physique wise.

Power lifters lift heavier weights than I ever will too but I have no aspirations of wanting as high a body fat level as they normally have. I guess we all have our own goals but at least for me I don't have much care in telling anyone what my max lifts are. My priorities are only appearance and would be happy if I could continue to progress with building muscle/losing fat while lifting less. With that said though, I dont see where any bodybuilder is not doing the same or similar type exercises as a crossfit member.

This may be the worst analogy I have ever heard.
There are good things and bad things in both Crossfit and bodybuilding.
Crossfit should start with a base of learning movements, and then building a strength base.
Conditioning is a lot easier to get then strength.
I for one love the Crossfit movement because it is pushing gyms to have more squat racks, more free weights, and bumpers.Pigs get feed. Hogs get slaughtered.

sounds like a bunch of pre-teens arguing whether justin beiber is more dreamy than one direction or not. the sort of thing i'd usually respond "this is the pointless crap people argue about when they don't lift weights every day". Who cares? Do you what you want to do for your own reasons, not so you can lecture people about how much better it is than what other people do, like they should respect you for it or something. No one gives a ****. Why should they?

Man, this is an extremely self limiting attitude. Define normally high body fat levels. We have many weightclasses for men and women. Also, the top tier people in every class aren't fat slobs. Being strong is not an excuse to be fat just like being weak is not an excuse to be tiny. You can lift heavy weights and be strong without turning into a fat f*ck. Just most people shy away from it because its really goddamn hard.

Why do you need bumpers in the first place? So you can let the bar crash onto the floor after half the movement?
The most irritating thing I have about cross fit (which was nicely demonstrated in that video posted on p1) is that they only do half the movement with max weight and then basically just drop that **** wherever it may fall. Respect the weight, respect your abilities, and do a FULL movement with good form.I don't want to get you drunk, but, ah, that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking.
