I have used digestive enzymes and occasionally probiotics in the past and was just wondering how helpful they are with our diets and nutrient optimization? Are they worth the money or would you skip them altogether? If only used under certain conditions, which ones?
Thanks in advance!

Digestive enzymes & pro-biotics basically aid in digesting your nutrients and keeping healthy "good bacteria" levels in your stomach (aka: flora). They might not be necessary for everyone, but if you're having digestive issues they're worth taking a look at. If you're looking for a good supplement to take I'd take a look at TSN: Digestive Enzymes

Digestibe Enzymes should be essential in my opinion. You ever wonder why eating the way a bodybuilder does gives you terrible gas? It's the food you eat rotting inside of you and your body not utilizing all of the nutrients because, your body can only make so many digestive enzymes at a time. Ever since I started taking them, i haven't had bad gas once.

I used them for a month one time and they worked great. Then I recently used a different brand and didn't notice anything, actually was more bloated than anything. So from personal experience they can work great, but if you find that one supplement didn't work, doesn't mean that they all don't work. Give them a shot and see what you think of them. Also good to check your multivitamin, as some of them already have some digestive enzymes. Orange Triad I believe has digestive enzymes in it.

Yes. Most supplemented digestive enzymes will be digested by your own body before they've aided in the digestion of anything you're hoping it will help you digest. The body is pretty efficient at digesting anything you put your mouth to without external assistance unless you have some actual digestive disability. Which most people do not. In those cases where people do have a digestive disability the digestive enzymes they receive are prescribed and are coated in a special way (enteric, etc) so that they don't get destroyed before they're of use. Others are specific to their cause and again the people who are taking them KNOW what reason they are taking them for. Like Lactose Intolerance.
Not to say that they're worthless. There's lots of anecdotal evidence from people who consider themselves pretty in tune with their digestive systems to make these supplements seem effective to some degree. Good luck, man!All business.

Yes, but that is actually worthwhile. Not an enzyme or probiotic complex.
It is more to calm your stomach and expel gas. Ginger for instance is great for helping with the expulsion of gas in your intestine and an increase in GI motility.
Can help get rid of bloat and especially keep you feeling better when eating a lot as in when you are on a bulk.Controlled Labs Warder

I know some really like digestive enzymes when bulking. Probiotics I would highly recommend whether bulking, cutting, maintaining, etc.
A good shelf stable probiotic supplement like EvoMuse Gut Health will help not only with digesting and absorbing nutrients but will also really help with immune system support.

Digestive enzymes shouldn't really be taken unless you actually NEED them.
Probiotic I've been taking for 8 months now and I've noticed a huge improvement. I swear by them personally. I go for Progressive HCP 70 human strain.
As for them not working... Just some food for thought. My boss had a sever case of colitis and would constantly get flare ups even with taking the very expensive medication her Doc prescribed, then picked up a book written by a holistic nutritionist about natural healing where they suggested probiotics and glutamine (5g, 3X daily) and after a few weeks, no flair up. It's been years since she's had an issue now and she stopped with glutamine and only stuck with probiotics.
I work for a supplement company and I've heard many positive experiences with them. I think you just got to get a good one.
